The Players Championship came to an end Sunday evening after four rounds of play, with Cameron Young putting forth a forever memorable round at TPC Sawgrass. Young, now a two-time Tour winner,<\/a> recorded the longest tee shot on hole 18 ever recorded in the ShotLink era (2023) with 375 yards. A true all around showing posting par or below in all of his featured rounds, ending four under par with 68. Managing to leave with a course record and second career win, puts everything into perspective on what\u2019s still ahead for Young and company.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dedication Brings Victories\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Dedication is just a fraction of what it has taken Young to stay with his game throughout gaining his Tour card in 2022. With 104 events now played throughout the career, a second win shows you may never know when it\u2019s your turn to shine bright.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cToday I felt like I did an incredible job of just hanging around,\u201d Young said.<\/a> \u201cI haven\u2019t been in that scenario, really. I\u2019ve been chasing. I\u2019ve had people shoot 65 on me. Today, I feel like it was a great mental test of just how much can you linger. How much can you keep yourself in the tournament and see what happens.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Young passed the metal test with flying colors, putting on display parts of his golfing that may not have been as strong in previous tournaments seen. In a victory that may have seemed unlikely throughout parts of the weekend, Young was able to overcome adversity when it counted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019m just generally pretty hard on myself,\u201d Young said.<\/a> \u201cI think a lot of people that are good at what they do expect a lot out of themselves. So I think that while it might not be the best thing for performing at your highest level, those expectations are also something that drive you to be good.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

TPC Sawgrass History\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If grabbing his second ever Tour victory wasn\u2019t enough for the Englishman, maybe stamping himself in the course record book shall suffice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Young missed on his tee shot on No. 18 during the third round, but managed to make up for it come Sunday. Interestingly enough the second time around was for everything on the line, and he delivered. Setting himself up for the storybook ending many across the world saw within the sport.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to hit the best shot of my life right here,\u201d Young said<\/a> before his shot on No. 18. \u201cI don\u2019t know that I can think of one that\u2019s better, to have hit that one in that moment, that\u2019s pretty good.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Securing the capstone victory of his career thus far, is only the start for a player like Young. With a much expected confidence gain, the eagerness to experience such a feeling again should be key in performance level.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
