{"id":437750,"date":"2026-03-10T19:25:18","date_gmt":"2026-03-10T19:25:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=437750"},"modified":"2026-03-10T19:25:18","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T19:25:18","slug":"jon-rahm-moving-back-up-the-owgr-rankings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/jon-rahm-moving-back-up-the-owgr-rankings\/","title":{"rendered":"Jon Rahm Moving Back Up The OWGR Rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2026, LIV Golf found itself in the position where it was recognized by the OWGR for the first time.\u00a0 It\u2019s only partial recognition, meaning that point opportunities are limited for the players.\u00a0 During the Hong Kong event, Jon Rahm found himself taking home the trophy.\u00a0 This also came with the benefit that he is now back in the top 50.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jon Rahm In LIV<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before Rahm joined LIV Golf, he was the world no. 1 at one point, and he had a solid sponsorship with TaylorMade.\u00a0 He was on top of his game.\u00a0 After joining, he, of course, was barred from OWGR points and other leagues, so he found himself slipping outside the top 100.\u00a0 A position he hasn\u2019t been in over a decade.\u00a0 Restrictions were eased, of course, and Rahm was allowed to join the DP World Tour.\u00a0 During this time, fans were talking about how he didn\u2019t feel relevant anymore.\u00a0 Chamblee was even theorizing that the old format was leaving the players in a position where they were more relaxed than in other leagues or the majors.\u00a0 Rahm even had a season without a win just last year.\u00a0 However, starting this weekend,<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.owgr.com\/current-world-ranking\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Rahm is no. 36<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rahm Climbing In The OWGR<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LIV players have been taking advantage of the OWGR points as much as they can.\u00a0 After t<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/liv-golf-players-jumping-through-owgr-ranks-after-one-event\/\" target=\"_self\">he first event, Rahm found himself firmly in the top 100<\/a>.\u00a0 Since then, he has been on top of his game, getting two second-place finishes before claiming first in Hong Kong.\u00a0 This is all on top of Rahm <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/liv-golf-players-react-to-the-owgr-points-they-can-earn\/\" target=\"_self\">being one of the critics<\/a> of how the OWGR was approaching these points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI don\u2019t like how we\u2019re not being treated the same as every other tour.\u00a0 It seems like the rules that have been in place don\u2019t really apply to us, with only 10 of us getting points. It doesn\u2019t seem fair.
