This past week, the escalating war in Iran spread to other countries in the Middle East.\u00a0 At the time, there were eight LIV players in the area<\/a> at the time practicing for the next LIV event in Hong Kong.\u00a0 Those players were stranded with everyone else, but now they are safely out of harm’s way thanks to no small effort by Jon Rahm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why Jon Rahm Had To Help<\/span><\/h2>\n

A part of the escalation of the war was Iran doing retalitory attacks on surrounding countries aligned with the US and Israel.\u00a0 These attacks have made the airspace in the Middle East unsafe, and so most countries have shut down their airports.\u00a0 As a result, no one could fly out of places like Dubai.\u00a0 This was where most of the players in question were stranded.\u00a0 It meant that it was possible that they would miss the Hong Kong event, but the real worry was for their safety as the war raged on.\u00a0 LIV was making plans to help the players; the plans involved the players going through layover flights through cities like London, but there were still issues of getting them in the air to begin with.\u00a0 This is where Rahm comes in to help his fellow players.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jon Rahm Steps In<\/span><\/h2>\n

Despite currently struggling with the DP World Tour<\/a> and being criticised by other top players<\/a> in the world, Jon Rahm took the time to help the stranded players.\u00a0 According to Golf.com<\/a>, what he did was arrange a flight departing from Oman to Hong Kong.\u00a0 It had to be Oman because of the aforementioned airport closures.\u00a0 Players had to take a land route to Oman.\u00a0 Rahm had chartered a private jet to depart with seven of the eight players.\u00a0 He was reported as telling his associates to \u201cDo whatever you have to do, but get them out of there.\u201d\u00a0 The lone exception was Laurie Canter, who found his own way out through Oman.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Players Safe Thanks To Rahm<\/span><\/h2>\n

The consensus among the players now that they are out of the Middle East is mostly relief.\u00a0 They are currently on the field in Hong Kong, but they are breathing sighs of relief as they process what they just went through.\u00a0 Caleb Surrat has described it as a terrifying experience, knowing that a war was spilling out right onto his doorstep.\u00a0 Surrat is now expressing that sense of relief since arriving in Hong Kong.\u00a0 Adrian Meronk took to his Twitter account<\/a>, thanking those who helped the group out of the situation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A Sigh Of Relief In The Storm<\/span><\/h2>\n

The eight players are out of danger thanks to Jon Rahm.\u00a0 They all made it in time for the Hong Kong event, too.\u00a0 However, the conflict is still raging on.\u00a0 Meronk also made a point to remind everyone that there are still people stranded in the area.\u00a0 Airports remain closed, and air traffic is nonexistent due to the airstrikes.\u00a0 The players are fully aware of how lucky they are and are praying for everyone’s safety in the area.\u00a0 For now, the players are safe, and the show is going on in Hong Kong.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
