{"id":437520,"date":"2025-12-04T18:49:50","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T18:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=437520"},"modified":"2025-12-04T18:49:50","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T18:49:50","slug":"akshay-bhatia-has-a-new-caddie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/akshay-bhatia-has-a-new-caddie\/","title":{"rendered":"Akshay Bhatia Has A New Caddie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is not unusual for players to change their caddies.\u00a0 Changes are fairly common on and off-season.\u00a0 Sometimes, there is a match made in heaven between player and caddie.\u00a0 For long-time matchups, there is a great amount of trust between the two, like with Rory McIlroy and Henry Diamond.\u00a0 This week, one player is already showing his new partner in his career.\u00a0 During the Hero World Challenge,<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/2025\/03\/19\/rising-golf-star-akshay-bhatia\/\" target=\"_self\"> Akshay Bhatia<\/a> rolled up with a new caddie.\u00a0 This veteran caddie is Joe Greiner, who has the tools that Bhatia needs for his career.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joe Greiner, In 2025<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During 2025, Greiner had several players he caddied for.\u00a0 Previously, he was <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/max-homa-wraps-it-up-for-2025\/#google_vignette\" target=\"_self\">Max Homa<\/a>\u2019s caddie for six years until this past March.\u00a0 It just so happened that around the time of the Master\u2019s Tournament, Justin Thomas\u2019 caddie was sidelined due to an injury, so<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/2025\/04\/09\/justin-thomas-caddie-masters-tournament\/\" target=\"_self\"> he stepped up for Thomas<\/a>.\u00a0 For the RBC Heritage, Greiner was paired with Collin Morikawa.\u00a0 Then, during the FedEx St. Jude Championship, he was paired with Jake Knapp.\u00a0 That one looked like it would last through the next season, but it was not in the cards for the two.\u00a0 Now Greiner is with Akshay Bhatia.\u00a0 Greiner has <a  href=\"https:\/\/golfweek.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/golf\/pga\/2025\/12\/02\/pga-tour-caddie-max-homa-collin-morikawa-new-boss\/87573393007\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reached out to Golfweek to confirm<\/a> the partnership.\u00a0 As well as his intentions to stick with him through the 2026 season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Greiner has quite a lot to offer with his experience with Max Homa alone.\u00a0 He is also a stable choice for Bhatia.\u00a0 The tournament the two are participating in will also give them a chance to learn how they work together.\u00a0 As well as giving fans an idea of what to expect for the next season.\u00a0 Now, why does Bhatia need a new caddie?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Akshay Bhatia\u2019s Need For A Caddie<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2025, Bhatia was working with Brian Dilley.\u00a0 The reason why the position opened was that Dilley left the PGA Tour in favor of working with David Puig on LIV Golf.\u00a0 Being Bhatia\u2019s caddie is a fairly desirable position, too.\u00a0 He has two PGA wins under his belt since he joined the league in 2023.\u00a0 He currently stands in the top 50 on the OWGR, 43rd at the time of writing.\u00a0 Bhatia also finished the FedEx Cup at T13.\u00a0 All that, as well as having a Tournament winner exemption through 2027.\u00a0 He is pretty young too, at only 23, he has more than a few years in his career.\u00a0 If Greiner sticks with Bhatia, he can expect some stable work for at least two years.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2026 For Bhatia And Greiner<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2026 is already going to be a season of big changes.\u00a0 The memberships have been lowered, the current CEO is talking about schedule changes, and pace-of-play measures are being solidified.\u00a0 Changes are even happening on the player level, aside from the ones affected by the membership cuts;
