{"id":437518,"date":"2025-12-03T03:35:28","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T03:35:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=437518"},"modified":"2025-12-03T03:35:28","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T03:35:28","slug":"pga-tour-to-introduce-financial-aid-for-former-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/pga-tour-to-introduce-financial-aid-for-former-members\/","title":{"rendered":"PGA Tour To Introduce Financial Aid For Former Members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the PGA Tour\u2019s efforts to<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/pga-tours-slow-play-problem-can-new-rules-finally-fix-it\/\" target=\"_self\"> address the pace of play<\/a>, the league took some measures to reduce the times throughout 2025.\u00a0 However, for 2026, the league took a radical step that has its fair share of criticism.\u00a0 It was the decision to<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/tour-card-reductions-are-already-effecting-hopefuls\/\" target=\"_self\"> reduce the Tour Cards from 125 to 100<\/a>.\u00a0 However, as <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.golfchannel.com\/pga-tour\/news\/pga-tour-redistributing-funds-to-create-financial-assistance-programs-for-pathway-members\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported by the Golf Channel<\/a>, the PGA is putting out a new financial aid program for the players who missed the cut to help make up the difference.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why Is The PGA Tour Giving These Grants?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cuts to membership in the PGA Tour mean<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/lucas-glover-says-membership-cuts-doesnt-make-sense\/\" target=\"_self\"> less opportunity for the players involved<\/a>.\u00a0 Specifically, the newer and lower-ranked players are going to have a harder time establishing or reestablishing themselves.\u00a0 Because of this, the PGA Tour sent out a memo to its players detailing the new program.\u00a0 This was a decision from the PGA Tour policy board, stating that the goal is \u201crewarding strong performers and supporting both players who are ascending through the system and those returning from the PGA Tour.\u201d\u00a0 With this new policy, two new financial programs were created to support the players who turn out even without exemptions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Member Support Program<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This program is for the players who lost their exemptions at the end of the previous season.\u00a0 Anyone who fell under the hammer of the membership cuts can apply to the program;
