{"id":437440,"date":"2025-11-19T04:34:35","date_gmt":"2025-11-19T04:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=437440"},"modified":"2025-11-19T04:34:35","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T04:34:35","slug":"kevin-chappell-retires-from-golf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/kevin-chappell-retires-from-golf\/","title":{"rendered":"Kevin Chappell Retires From Golf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier in 2025, there were talks about a few star players<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/2025\/03\/15\/golf-fans-dustin-johnson\/\" target=\"_self\"> being close to retirement<\/a>.\u00a0 Most discussion <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/tiger-woods-undergoes-major-spine-surgery-to-restore-his-mobility\/\" target=\"_self\">revolved around Tiger Woods,<\/a> as he had a year plagued by injuries and surgeries.\u00a0 However, as the year is coming to a close, one player announced his retirement, citing a number of things, including complications from injuries.\u00a0 That player is<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/kevin-chappells-retirement-exposes-a-growing-crisis-inside-the-pga-tour\/\" target=\"_self\"> Kevin Chappell<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chappell\u2019s Injuries<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The injury in question was a back injury Chappell got in 2018.\u00a0 He went <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=W7hrSQ3aHaI\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on the Subpar Podcast and described the struggle<\/a> at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt was basically a year and a half when I didn\u2019t play a lot of competitive golf, and I really struggled to find any form after that,\u201d Chappell said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He did go through a corrective surgery, which is what put him out for a year and a half, but since returning, he never got back on top.\u00a0 Chappell has been in 90 events, making the cut in half of them, and only making the top 10 once.\u00a0 Further statements in the interview reveal that he doesn\u2019t think that he has a chance of climbing back up to the top.\u00a0 At least not without making some massive sacrifices in his life.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changing Priorities<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During his recovery, Chappell spent a lot of time with his family.\u00a0 He sees this as a time when he really grew in his relationship with his family, away from the tournaments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI started to grow as a person, started to grow as a father, and priorities started to change.
