{"id":437037,"date":"2025-10-06T21:36:27","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T21:36:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=437037"},"modified":"2025-10-06T21:36:27","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T21:36:27","slug":"greg-norman-shares-his-time-with-liv-golf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/greg-norman-shares-his-time-with-liv-golf\/","title":{"rendered":"Greg Norman Shares His Time With LIV Golf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year, Greg Norman, the first CEO of LIV Golf, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/2025\/02\/03\/greg-normans-new-role-liv-golf-leadership\/\" target=\"_self\">stepped down from his position, replaced by Scott O\u2019Neil<\/a>.\u00a0 He wouldn\u2019t be <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/greg-norman-sends-goodbye-message-after-leaving-liv-golf\/\" target=\"_self\">fully replaced until August, when he left the league<\/a> and made the announcement on his personal Facebook page.\u00a0 Now he is looking back on his time with LIV Golf and sharing what it was like with anyone interested in knowing.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why Did Greg Norman Help Start LIV<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Greg Norman had a long-time dream for a golf world tour.\u00a0 A fairly interesting concept, having the best players in the world tour some of the most famous courses in the world.\u00a0 It is a solid idea on paper.\u00a0 Norman has actually tried to start one back in the 1990s, but it didn\u2019t go very far.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t until LIV Golf that Norman had a chance to bring his dream to reality.\u00a0 As to how long that dream will last is anyone&#8217;s guess.\u00a0 The league has been <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/liv-golf-ltd-reports-half-billion-loss-in-2024\/\" target=\"_self\">hemorrhaging money<\/a> since day one.\u00a0 That hasn\u2019t stopped Norman from pressing on with the renegade league.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Norman Working On LIV<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In an<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.australiangolfdigest.com.au\/dont-judge-me-greg-norman-breaks-silence-on-liv-golf-exit-in-exclusive-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> interview with the Australian branch of Golf Digest<\/a>, Greg Norman discussed the work he did for LIV Golf.\u00a0 He talked about some grueling weeks he went through, as well as lightly touching on the PR issues the league has.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI enjoyed my time at LIV. But I\u2019ll be honest with you, it was hard,\u201d\u00a0 Norman told Golf Digest.\u00a0 \u201cIt was very draining on me. I was working 100-hour weeks. I\u2019m not going to say all the abuse was anything of consequence, but what hurt me the most was the lack of understanding of why people would judge me and give the abuse they did. That was the thing that bothered me the most, because I\u2019m the type of guy who will happily sit down and talk about things. And if I\u2019m wrong, I\u2019ll admit I\u2019m wrong. But don\u2019t judge me. Don\u2019t judge what LIV was truly all about.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the same interview, Norman acknowledges the issues LIV Golf has had with other leagues.\u00a0 This includes the suspension policies put in place in the PGA and DP World Tour, and also the OWGR denying points for LIV events.
