however, for the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/ryder-cup-2025-update-qualified-players-and-those-at-risk-of-missing-out\/\" target=\"_self\">US Ryder Cup team<\/a>, the captain has handled most things.\u00a0 This includes managing logistical issues, such as equipment, storage of said equipment, and refreshments.\u00a0 For this Ryder Cup, the US team captain can rest easy, as the team now has a dedicated manager in John Wood.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Who Is John Wood?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">John Wood is a retired caddie who has worked on the Ryder Cup six times.\u00a0 He has been to a total of nine.\u00a0 The other three are as a team assistant and as a reporter.\u00a0 Reporting is what he has been doing after he retired as a caddie ,much like <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/2025\/03\/19\/matt-fitzpatrick-billy-foster-split\/\" target=\"_self\">Billy Foster was poised for this year<\/a>.\u00a0 Last June, Wood received a call asking him to manage the team.\u00a0 He would later say that he couldn\u2019t answer yes soon enough.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wood On The Position<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">John Wood was incredibly excited to take this position.\u00a0 In an i<a  href=\"https:\/\/golfweek.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/golf\/ryder-cup\/2025\/09\/23\/ryder-cup-us-team-manager-john-wood-nbc-sports-former-caddie\/86292641007\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nterview with Golfweek during the Procore Championship<\/a>, he revealed that he and the then CEO of the PGA of America, Seth Waugh, were talking about creating a manager position for some time.\u00a0 The idea is that this is a permanent fixture for the US team from here on.\u00a0 The captain can worry about being a captain, and the manager can worry about the busy work.\u00a0 What Wood did not expect was to get that phone call from Waugh.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI love the Ryder Cup more than anything I\u2019ve ever gotten to do in this game, and when he called and started talking about the position, what they were thinking of doing, my honest reaction was, this is really cool that they\u2019re asking me who I think should do this job.\u00a0 I thought they were calling me for suggestions, like, who might be good?\u00a0 And I was honored at that\u2026I couldn\u2019t get yes out of my mouth fast enough.\u00a0 It\u2019s like Santa Claus saying you want to ride on my sleigh with me, you know?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previously, John Wood believed his golf days were behind him.\u00a0 He spent most of his career as a caddie, and that experience will help him out here.\u00a0 Wood caddied during previous Ryder Cups and has experience specifically in this field.\u00a0 He has said that a caddie\u2019s work can make the difference, even if it is just one point.\u00a0 His goal has been to make things just a little bit easier for the players so that they can focus better on the game.\u00a0 Here, he can do exactly that, even if it is just slightly behind the scenes.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At The Ryder Cup<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the Ryder Cup, fans can expect to see John Wood working behind the scenes.\u00a0 All while Keegan Bradley worries about the sports side of being a team captain.\u00a0 Now that the team captain only has to worry about the sport, he can focus his efforts on keeping the team in top condition.\u00a0 It is time for the Ryder Cup to begin;
