This past weekend, the Procore Championship took place in Napa, California.\u00a0 Midway through the tournament, it looked like the win could go either way, but in the end, it went to Scottie Scheffler.\u00a0 He was followed in a close second by Ben Griffin, who looked to be heading towards that win.\u00a0 Now Ben Griffin humbly responds to how it feels to be overtaken by the world No. 1.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Griffin On Scottie Scheffler<\/span><\/h2>\n

Despite losing to Scottie Scheffler, Ben Griffin kept his head held high as he talked to reporters about his game.\u00a0 He kept things classy by congratulating Scheffler on his win.\u00a0 He also admitted that he saw it coming as the final round played out.\u00a0 Ben Griffin told reporters<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWell, you know, you expect it,\u201d Griffin said. \u201cI knew I needed to shoot a lower round. Just the fact that I had a chance shooting 2 under, 3 under, I honestly thought I needed to go a little bit lower today. He\u2019s a hell of a player; he\u2019s got the resume that\u2019s better than pretty much everyone here. He\u2019s just like every other player; everyone can beat everyone. You\u2019ve just got to play better.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Griffin has a lot of respect for Scheffler, and he made that abundantly clear in the interview.\u00a0 Given an earlier interview, Scheffler is more concerned about seeing where he can improve himself<\/a>, and won\u2019t take all the credit for this win.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Griffin On His Own Performance<\/span><\/h2>\n

In the same interview, Griffin started talking about his own shortcomings.\u00a0 He felt like he started off pretty great, even in the middle of the round.\u00a0 Then he started talking about some of the mistakes he started making that could have made the difference.\u00a0 Griffin felt like he made some pretty decent putts, but also that he made too many.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou need to either convert those or make a few more from mid-range. It\u2019s all good, I\u2019ll get to work, I\u2019ll look at things, and I\u2019ll practice hard this week and make sure I\u2019m ready for the Ryder Cup.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With those little mistakes in the cards, that\u2019s where Scheffler swooped in and took full advantage of the situation.\u00a0 There are exceptions,<\/a> but Scottie Scheffler has always handled the pressure of performing well better.\u00a0 Ben Griffin had plenty of confidence going in, but still didn\u2019t get the win.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both Are Heading Towards The Ryder Cup<\/span><\/h2>\n

Going into the Procore, Griffin wanted to earn the win before the Ryder Cup.\u00a0 In the end, it was another member of the US Ryder Cup team who took the win.\u00a0 Griffin took the loss in stride and remained humble, reflecting on areas where he could have improved.\u00a0 Both players will be working together in two weeks in New York.\u00a0 They both made it to the top of the Procore leaderboard, and now they\u2019ll both be seeing which team makes it to the top of the Ryder leaderboard.\u00a0 With those two on the team, the odds are being stacked in favor of team Bradley for 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n
