Since 2023, Austin, Texas, has been overlooked by the PGA Tour as a result of schedule changes.\u00a0 The city hosted an event for the World Golf Championships series, yet the city was scrubbed from the schedule.\u00a0 However, for 2026, Austin, Texas, is back on the PGA map as the city will host a new tournament on the PGA Tour.<\/span><\/p>\n

Austin Texas And The PGA<\/span><\/h2>\n

Austin has had a fairly short history with the PGA Tour, starting in 2016.\u00a0 That was when it was originally announced that the match play event of the WGC would be hosted in the city.\u00a0 Of course, Texas as a whole is no stranger to the PGA with events.\u00a0 Most of the state’s major cities have one event throughout the year.\u00a0 Austin just so happened to be establishing itself as a hub in the tech world.\u00a0 Something that made the city lucrative for events.\u00a0 However, in 2023, that changed as massive changes were made to the PGA Tour\u2019s schedule.\u00a0 Similar to the Baracuda event being phased out<\/a>.\u00a0 The Vice President and executive director of the PGA Tour Championship Management announced at the time.\u00a0 Letting everyone know that Austin was now in the cards for 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I think you’ve seen this throughout our history. Look at the markets we’ve been in, and we’ve had to exit markets for certain reasons,” Uppleger said in 2023. “And obviously, we would look at Austin, Texas, in the future. It’s not on the ’24 calendar, but clearly look at the success that we’ve had here. There’s no doubt that our team would be looking at that.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The hiatus is, of course, lasting through the rest of 2025, but the PGA always had an eye on Austin.\u00a0 The hiatus was never expected to be permanent and was always to be short-lived, as the city has a lot to offer for the PGA Tour.\u00a0 Now the city is expected to be a host in 2026 after three years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Austin, Texas, To Host Again<\/span><\/h2>\n

Although the full schedule has yet to be released for 2026, Austin is expected to host an event for the FedEx fall stretch, according to reporting from Sports Business Journal<\/a>.\u00a0 The event is set to take place in the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa.\u00a0 With it being a FedEx fall stretch event, attendance from top players can be expected to be minimal, as they will likely be training for the next season, much like Scottie Scheffler\u2019s plans for this year<\/a>.\u00a0 It is not clear what the event will be called, but the name is expected to drop with the rest of the schedule, along with the news of a new signature event<\/a>.\u00a0 There is also no clear sponsor of the event, either, another detail expected to be revealed in the near future.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Texas In 2026<\/span><\/h2>\n

The state of Texas is already busy with golf events, but now the people of Austin can expect to see some of that in their backyards once again.\u00a0 Sure, it\u2019s not the regular season, but it\u2019s still the PGA.\u00a0 Given the nature of the fall series, it will be calmer without too much media attention, unless a top player attends the event.\u00a0 For 2026, Austin Texas, will be seeing a major league return to the city.<\/span><\/p>\n
