Tiger Woods has earned a lot of respect and influence in the PGA and golf in general.\u00a0 He has a legacy unmatched by anyone<\/a>, is getting challenges from the Champions Tour<\/a>, and was the face of the PGA.\u00a0 With that comes a lot of recognition.\u00a0 The question then becomes, what is one to do with all this?\u00a0 For Tiger Woods he started doing some charitable work.\u00a0 All the way back in 2006, he opened a nonprofit in Anaheim, California, called the TGR Learning Lab<\/a>.\u00a0 Now, with the help of the TGR Foundation and the Cobbs Creek Foundation, a new Learning Lab has opened in Philadelphia.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Is The TGR Learning Lab?<\/span><\/h2>\n

The TGR Foundation is a nonprofit founded by Tiger Woods meant to give back to the community, primarily through educational programs.\u00a0 The idea being that a little bit of learning can go a long way for students.\u00a0 The programs include college prep, career prep, courses for STEM fields, as well as a scholarship program.\u00a0 All in a safe space where students can learn to their heart’s content.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tiger Woods On The New Branch<\/span><\/h2>\n

Tiger Woods is, of course, not the only golfer looking to use his influence to better the world.\u00a0 Paul Azinger has the Compassion Center<\/a> in Florida, meant to help those in need.\u00a0 Tiger Woods is going down a different charitable path.\u00a0 Woods has always been a believer in the power of education.\u00a0 He believes it to be a powerful tool in uplifting communities and individuals.\u00a0 By giving these students the keys to learning, they can have the tools to do the rest.\u00a0 On Monday, September 8th, Tiger Woods attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Smilow Woodland TGR Learning Lab.\u00a0 Right next to him were two students, Mayor Cherelle Parker and Chairman Christopher Magruire of the Cobbs Creek Foundation.\u00a0 During the ceremony, Tiger Woods was excited to be there to see more children being given the chance to further their education.\u00a0 All while thanking his team and the CC<\/a> Foundation for their contributions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to be here to celebrate this moment with my Foundation and the kids we\u2019re serving in West Philadelphia,\u201d said Woods. \u201cI\u2019m proud of my team and grateful to Cobbs Creek Foundation and everyone who has worked with us to make an impact in this community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Tiger Woods\u2019 New Learning Lab<\/span><\/h2>\n

Although the ribbon-cutting happened just today, the Learning Lab had a soft opening earlier this year.\u00a0 Mostly as a way to make sure it gets a stronger foothold in the community and to prepare the teachers for when the lab actually opens for the fall semester.\u00a0 Courses are free, a student needs only to sign up and attend.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

TGR And Cobbs Creek Goal<\/span><\/h2>\n

This is only the first step for the Cobbs Creek campus.\u00a0 The CC Foundation has plans for expansion to better serve the city of Philadelphia.\u00a0 Although the Learning Lab alone has a lot to offer, from science and engineering to math and the arts.\u00a0 The lab has a lot of work to do, especially with an expected attendance of over four thousand.\u00a0 Tiger Woods wouldn\u2019t have it any less.\u00a0 He wants to see the plans through, all for the purpose of serving the communities that need it the most.<\/span><\/p>\n
