Ian Poulter<\/a> has opened up about the hidden injury issues he has been battling throughout the 2025 LIV Golf season<\/a>. The 49-year-old admitted that he played the entire season with an injury he never spoke about in public after narrowly avoiding relegation during the final individual event of the season in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

Ian Poulter joined LIV Golf from the PGA and DP World Tours back in 2022 but he hasn’t been able to recapture his best form since then.<\/p>\n

Poulter Reveals Reason For Difficult 2025 Season<\/h2>\n

Poulter shared the news in an emotional post on Instagram. He explained that the season was filled with mixed emotions. The 49-year-old did not reveal the exact nature of the injury, but it clearly affected his performances. The Majesticks co-captain struggled to find his best form throughout his third full season with the Saudi-backed league.<\/p>\n

\u201cReflecting back on my 26th consecutive season on Tour and this one, was not easy,\u201d Poulter said.<\/a> \u201cI had an injury that I didn\u2019t tell you guys about but we fought through it. It\u2019s had laughter, it\u2019s had tears, it\u2019s had the utmost stress. Most importantly, I have taken some incredible strength from the people who have supported me and keep supporting me. You\u2019ve given me the reason to keep working so hard. This game never ceases to amaze me time and time again. The will to win and improve won\u2019t ever stop. I love this game and I love playing in front of you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n

LIV Golf has a relegation system that places players at risk if they do not finish high enough. The season came down to a dramatic finish at the final event in Indianapolis. Poulter needed to play well to avoid being relegated and he stepped up at the key moment to produce a late run of birdies to save his spot. That burst of scoring kept him in LIV Golf for another year. While Poulter survived, his teammate Henrik Stenson was not as fortunate as he was among the players relegated from the league.<\/p>\n

Poulter Not Ready To Hang Up His Boots Yet<\/h2>\n

Poulter plans to recover and prepare for the next season. The 49-year-old revealed he isn’t ready to retire just yet, but he’s looking ahead to next season to achieve a much better result. Poulter will now have to work incredibly hard during the off-season if he is to have any chance of regaining his best form next season, after he failed to record a single top-10 finish throughout the entire season.<\/p>\n
