{"id":436600,"date":"2025-08-27T02:11:28","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T02:11:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=436600"},"modified":"2025-08-27T02:11:28","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T02:11:28","slug":"scottie-scheffler-loses-cool-at-tour-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/scottie-scheffler-loses-cool-at-tour-championship\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottie Scheffler Loses Cool At Tour Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During a high-pressure tournament, it isn\u2019t uncommon to see an athlete show some emotion.\u00a0 Anger and frustration are just a reality of the job.\u00a0 An athlete lines up the shot, carefully makes the calculations in their head, takes the shot, and misses.\u00a0 Something like that is enough to make any player show their anger.\u00a0 Golf is no stranger to this; a few times this year, a player took their anger out on something either in the moment or kept it bottled up inside.\u00a0 During the Tour Championship, the normally calm Scottie Scheffler expressed such anger.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Golfers Who Got Angry<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Throughout the 2025 season, there have been four notable instances of players getting angry.\u00a0 During the US Open, Rory McIlroy got so angry that he<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/watch-rory-mcilroy-loses-cool-launches-club-after-miss-at-us-open\/\" target=\"_self\"> threw his club<\/a>.\u00a0 Wyndham Clark took his rage out in the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/wyndham-clark-is-accused-of-destroying-lockers-at-oakmont\/\" target=\"_self\">Oakmont locker room<\/a>.\u00a0 Earlier during the PGA Championship, Clark threw his club at an advertisement sign, breaking his club in the process.\u00a0 Meanwhile, on LIV, Brooks Koepka missed a shot and got so angry that <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/brooks-koepka-receives-backlash-for-outburst-at-liv-dallas\/\" target=\"_self\">he took a swing at a tee marker<\/a>, almost hitting spectators in the process.\u00a0 Now there is one major difference between these reactions and Scheffler&#8217;s.\u00a0 Scottie Scheffler didn\u2019t put others in danger during a tantrum.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scottie Scheffler Loses His Cool<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the second round of the Tour Championship, what happened was that Scottie Scheffler had a ball stuck in the bunker.\u00a0 He swings, misses his shot, and, in anger, <a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/flushingitgolf\/status\/1958949947304550721?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1958949947304550721%7Ctwgr%5E19ac463dfae03a0b4dbff2ec01ff564f0ee0a8cb%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thegolfinggazette.com%2Fnews%2Fscottie-scheffler-praised-for-his-unusual-behaviour-on-day-two-of-the-tour-championship%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">he takes out some rage on the sand<\/a>.\u00a0 Fan backlash was along the lines that a golfer like him needs to keep his cool.\u00a0 The sport can be frustrating, but it is seen as a gentleman&#8217;s sport.\u00a0 Elsewhere in coverage, a different angle began to form.\u00a0 The idea that it is good to see Scheffler express some emotion during a match.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coverage Of Scheffler\u2019s Outburst<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over on Sky Sports, Henni Zuel took a positive angle to Scheffler\u2019s outburst.\u00a0 Zuel spoke on Scheffler, saying:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI actually am going to say I love to see it. It\u2019s good to see that he cares. That something gets under his skin enough, especially after his comments at The Open, which I know were meant in a way of having a great mindset and detaching yourself from golf and the result, which is commendable,\u201d she continued.\u00a0 \u201cBut as a fan of the game and as a fan of wanting the best players to have something which means something to them, like Rory McIlroy winning the Masters, you could see what it meant to him.
