Fleetwood\u2019s triumph came at East Lake Golf Club<\/a> in Atlanta, where he shot a final-round 68 to finish three strokes clear of Patrick Cantlay and Russell Henley. The victory marked the end of a long wait for the 34-year-old. Fleetwood had started 164 PGA Tour events without a win before Sunday, despite posting 30 top-five and 44 top-10 finishes.<\/p>\n

Among those who were first to congratulate him on the achievement were some of the biggest names in sports. Tiger Woods, widely regarded as the greatest golfer of his generation, praised Fleetwood\u2019s determination and consistency. In a post on X, Woods said no one deserved the moment more than Fleetwood<\/a>.<\/p>\n

LeBron James, who has long supported athletes across different sports, was equally enthusiastic. The Los Angeles Lakers star congratulated Fleetwood and spoke about how special it feels to finally capture that elusive first win.<\/p>\n

Fleetwood again held a two-shot lead with three holes left two weeks ago in Memphis, Tennessee, at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, but slipped with a par on the reachable par-5 16th and a bogey on the 17th. That opened the door for his compatriot Justin Rose, who charged late and went on to beat J.J. Spaun in a playoff.<\/p>\n
