This week marks the latest chapter in Fleetwood’s ongoing pursuit of his first PGA Tour victory.<\/a> Last week at the BMW Championship, Fleetwood entered the weekend in first place but finished T-4 after an incredible comeback from World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. Despite these near-misses, Fleetwood remains focused on the process and will be hoping to finally make his lead count this time.<\/p>\n

Fleetwood’s consistency has been evident throughout the season, with multiple top-10 finishes and a T-3 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. His ability to stay in contention week after week underscores his skill and determination. Fleetwood will be looking to end his winless streak that stretches back to 2017 as he heads into the final two rounds at East Lake. The 34-year-old’s second-round 7-under 63 at East Lake Golf Club took him to a share of the lead with Russell Henley, and he said after the round that he is already imagining winning the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery tournament we play, I would picture myself winning it,\u201d Fleetwood said after his round on Friday.<\/a> \u201cI would say it’s just another one of those. Obviously, it’s a very coveted one and a very big one, but yeah, I always sort of feel like I imagine winning every tournament, and this is just another one of those.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fleetwood Excited To Be in Contention Again<\/h3>\n

A victory this weekend would be a significant achievement for Fleetwood. Not only would he claim his first PGA Tour title in nearly eight years, but he would also cap off a strong season with one of golf\u2019s most prestigious tournaments. And with a $10 million FedEx Cup prize on the line, Fleetwood says he’s excited to have the opportunity to be in contention again following last week’s disappointment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat’s where I want to be. I keep going,\u201d Fleetwood said. \u201cI love the buzz when I am in contention, and, yeah, I’m just excited for the opportunity again\u2026I think I’m doing a lot of things well and just happy that I’ve got off to a great start in another tournament and I’m there again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Henley led after the first round and finished strong with birdies on his final two holes. He carded a 66 to match Fleetwood at 13 under 127. U.S. Ryder Cup hopeful Cameron Young is two shots behind in third place after an impressive 62 that included a 29 on the back nine. Shane Lowry also played a stellar back nine, shooting 29 to record a 63 for the round.<\/p>\n
