Another week, another tournament in the bag.\u00a0 The BMW Championship has wrapped up with a few notable moments.\u00a0 One being Akshay Bhatia\u2019s hole-in-one<\/a>.\u00a0 The event ultimately ended with another victory for Scottie Scheffler.\u00a0 However, during the event, Ted Scott, Scheffler\u2019s usual caddie, was missing.\u00a0 Instead, Scheffler was paired with Michael Cromie.\u00a0 After his victory at the BMW Championship,<\/a> Scheffler is singing Cromie\u2019s praises.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why Is Scheffler With Cromie<\/span><\/h2>\n

During the St Jude Championship, Ted Scott had to leave due to a family matter.\u00a0 It is unclear what happened, but Scottie Scheffler has sent his best to the Scott family.\u00a0 With Scott leaving after the third round, Scheffler needed a stand-in and found one in Brad Payne.\u00a0 A good friend of Scheffler\u2019s who has filled the role before when Ted Scott was absent in the past.\u00a0 During the BMW Championship, neither Payne nor Scott was able to return as Scheffler\u2019s caddie, so it ultimately fell upon Michael Cromie\u2019s shoulders<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cromie Steps In<\/span><\/h2>\n

Cromie is a good friend of Ted Scott and is usually Chris Kirk\u2019s caddie.\u00a0 He had the experience needed to be a good stand-in.\u00a0 According to Scheffler, Cromie had some big shoes to fill, yet somehow he managed.\u00a0 While working together, something clicked between the two, and they became a perfect team.\u00a0 The two synchronized as if they had been working together for years now.\u00a0 Scheffler would go on to praise Cromie as a great teammate in his time of need.\u00a0 Scheffler said in a post-win press conference<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

“He’s a guy I can trust,” Scheffler said. “He’s one of Ted’s good buddies. I’d just say it’s pretty much as simple as that. Cromie is a guy that works hard. He does his prep work, and he was an easy guy for me to trust out there.\u00a0 I felt like we did a good job of talking through our shots and staying patient and keep doing the right things even when things were looking a little bit squirrelly there on the back nine. We did a good job of staying focused and continuing to hit shots at the right targets. Closed the tournament out nicely.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Scheffler goes on to praise how Cromie kept an \u201ceven keel all week.\u201d\u00a0 Scheffler liked how Cromie was able to handle the pressure.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t crack once and continued to be a level-headed teammate.\u00a0 In the end, the two were able to bring home the grand prize of the event together.<\/span><\/p>\n

Will Michael Cromie Stick Around For Scottie Scheffler?<\/span><\/h2>\n

At the time of writing, Ted Scott is returning to Scheffler\u2019s side for the Tour Championship.\u00a0 If it comes down to it in the future, Michael Cromie would be a wonderful stand-in if anything happens again.\u00a0 The two clicked well together during the BMW Championship despite the pairing being temporary.\u00a0 Now, whenever Scheffler needs a caddie, Cromie seems like such an obvious choice.\u00a0 After how well the BMW Championship went, Cromie may be on Scheffler\u2019s call list.\u00a0 For now, though, Scheffler and Ted Scott are preparing for the Tour Championship this week.<\/span><\/p>\n
