Robert MacIntyre<\/a> has admitted his frustrations with his performance in the final round of the BMW Championship after seeing Scottie Scheffler put in an impressive performance to claim victory at the second FedEx Cup playof<\/a>f event at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland by finishing 15 under on the par-71 course. The 29-year-old came close to winning the BMW Championship but instead left the course with frustration after blowing a four-shot lead.<\/p>\n

MacIntyre Misses Out Despite Starting Final Round With Four-Shot Lead<\/h2>\n

The Oban-born star started the final round on Sunday with a four-shot lead at Caves Valley Golf Club. It looked as though he was on course for one of the biggest wins of his career, but world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler had other ideas. Scheffler produced a stunning finish, capped by a chip-in birdie from 27 feet on the 17th hole, to steal victory and leave MacIntyre two shots behind.<\/p>\n

While Scheffler finished with a three-under-par 67, MacIntyre stumbled to a three-over 73. MacIntyre did not try to hide his emotions in his post-round press conference. He admitted to being<\/a> \u201creally p***ed off\u201d with the result, and even joked about wanting to smash his golf clubs.<\/p>\n

Despite his frustration, MacIntyre praised Scheffler\u2019s brilliance after the World No. 1 came from four shots behind to secure victory. The Scot insisted that Scheffler’s clutch chip on the 17th hole was the turning point while also admitting that he can’t control what the American does.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot at all. I mean, I can’t control what he does. Look I mean he doesn’t hole out, he doesn’t get up and down on 17, he holes it if he didn’t get up and down there. My ball didn’t fly two yards long. It may have been a different story but look, he’s a better player on the day. I’m just really p***ed off right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

MacIntyre Sets Sights On Your Championship<\/h2>\n

While MacIntyre’s runner-up finish secured him a place in Europe\u2019s Ryder Cup team, the 29-year-old has turned his attention to the Tour Championship, the final stop of the FedEx Cup playoffs. The top 30 players in the points rankings will compete for the title, with stars including Scheffler, MacIntyre, J.J. Spaun and Justin Rose are set to play. Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy<\/a> will also feature at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia despite choosing to sit out the St. Jude Championship.<\/p>\n

All 30 players will begin on level-par and the winner will earn $10 million in winnings from a total purse of $40m. When asked about the things he saw as improvements he needed to make to win a second PGA Tour title, MacIntyre insisted he had no idea. \u201cI mean, right now, not a clue. Right now I want to go and smash up my golf clubs to be honest with you.\u201d<\/p>\n
