Tommy Fleetwood<\/a> has expressed his appreciation to fans after falling just short of winning another title on Sunday at the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis. The Englishman looked in strong form all week, taking control of the tournament with a brilliant second-round performance that saw him climb to the top of the leaderboard.<\/p>\n

Fleetwood Looking For The Positives<\/h2>\n

Fleetwood ended the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship with a heavy heart after Justin Rose surged ahead with a brilliant finish and went on to beat J.J. Spaun in a playoff. Fleetwood\u2019s final-round 69 left him tied for third at 15-under par \u2014 his 43rd top-10 finish without a PGA Tour win. After coming so close to victory again, the 34-year-old sent his appreciation to his fans who have stood by him after the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs long as they stay with me, stay by my side, we can all look for the positives,\u201d Fleetwood said<\/a>. \u201cI’m lucky with the support that I get, and I enjoyed getting the crowd on my side and I love that support. I’m so appreciative of it. We’re kind of on this journey together here. It’s a great week and I did some good stuff. As disappointed as I am, I have to find the strength to make it all a positive experience and hopefully next time go again, put myself in that position again and just go again.\u201d<\/p>\n

How Fleetwood’s Quest For Victory Ended In Disappointment Again<\/h2>\n

The Englishman arrived at TPC Southwind<\/a> in fine form and quickly showed that he had what it takes to finally end his near-misses curse. Fleetwood lit up the course with a brilliant second round of 64 on Friday, building on his opening round of 63 to reach 13-under par. The highlight of his day was a run of four straight birdies late in the round, which moved him four shots clear of the field. The 34-year-old looked in complete control and full of confidence going into the weekend.<\/p>\n

However, Saturday was a tougher test for Fleetwood. He started with a stumble and made a double bogey at the par-5 third hole after finding trouble early. But he steadied himself and avoided further damage, carding a 69 to stay at the top of the leaderboard, one shot ahead of Justin Rose. Despite the setback, he was still in a strong position heading into Sunday\u2019s final round.<\/p>\n

The last day, however, brought familiar heartbreak as he bogeyed the opening hole after finding a fairway bunker, and while he battled to recover, the round never quite settled in his favour. A long birdie putt at the 12th and another birdie on the 15th kept him in the hunt, but key mistakes cost him. A bogey at the par-5 16th and a missed green on the 17th left him needing something special on the 18th. Instead, a bunker off the tee led to another bogey, and his chance to force a playoff slipped away.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead to the BMW Championship<\/h2>\n

Although a title once again slipped from his grasp, the 34-year-old left Memphis knowing that his fans are still behind him. Fleetwood will now turn his attention to the BMW Championship, the next stop in the FedEx Cup Playoffs<\/a>. The Englishman will be eager to put the Memphis heartbreak behind him and make another push for victory with the unwavering support of his fans.<\/p>\n
