The 2025 Wyndham Championship officially kicked off Thursday, with many factors coming into play on the remaining season at hand. With the FedExCup standings looming in sight, and playoffs just on the horizon. All those in the field of play for the tournament come out expected to perform at a high level, and Cameron Young was one who answered that call. Hitting on six birdies and one par in the final seven holes, Young finished in storybook fashion with a 63, his lowest round since last year’s Wyndham Championship.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Young Comes Alive<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This Tour season has been one with many ups and downs for the veteran in Young, with 20 events played thus far. Young has 13 cuts made, four top ten finishes, and seven top 25 finishes as well. While currently ranked 40th in FedExCup standings,<\/a> he looks to be in strong contention for playoffs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s the constant battle between mental and reality that has held Young back this season so far. Understanding in many events he is performing well, while still managing to find many negatives in his game. This long 2025 season has taught many lessons that Young had at the forefront in round one at Wyndham.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I think it’s just been a progression throughout the year. It’s one of those times early in the year where it feels like I’m doing a lot of stuff right and getting nothing for it and the results show the nothing and not the stuff that I felt like was getting better,” Young said.<\/a> “It’s been a long season and I think I’ve kind of grown and built some confidence throughout it. It’s just a matter of some of that work starting to show and looking forward to doing more of it the next few days.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Stay On The Gas\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Young sits in a four way tie for third place, with some familiar names like Aaron Rai and Mark Hubbard. The stage is set and the lights are bright, as round two will kick off first thing Friday morning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The previous winner in Rai is still showcasing why he took home the trophy last season, totaling eight birdies. While he is continuing his run, Young is neck and neck with the defending champion. with a prime chance to put his name back into the winning circle and gain some confidence, precision is key going forward.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s more support here than I get anywhere else,\u201d Young said.<\/a> \u201cIt\u2019s a comfortable golf course here for me, it\u2019s just a matter of a couple putts going in.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the Wyndham Championship continues throughout the week and into the weekend, competition will rise in result. Young has the chance to make his comeback full force and end this season on a high note. Walking into playoffs with his head high, and much needed confidence back in his game.<\/span><\/p>\n
