{"id":436141,"date":"2025-07-31T02:57:54","date_gmt":"2025-07-31T02:57:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=436141"},"modified":"2025-07-31T02:57:54","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T02:57:54","slug":"liv-golf-is-struggling-to-make-a-star-according-to-dan-rapaport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/liv-golf-is-struggling-to-make-a-star-according-to-dan-rapaport\/","title":{"rendered":"LIV Golf Is Struggling To Make A Star, According To Dan Rapaport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At this point, the story of how LIV Golf started is fairly well known.\u00a0 A new renegade golf league broke onto the scene and has disrupted the sport for better and for worse.\u00a0 LIV managed to make some splashes by signing contracts with well-known pros.\u00a0 The tournaments for LIV Golf are big, bombastic, with a lot of money going into each one for the world tour format it has.\u00a0 LIV Golf has a slogan that accompanies every tournament, \u201cGolf But Loud,\u201d and the league lives up to it by featuring big-name players who perform live music.\u00a0 However, on the Dan On Golf podcast, host of the show Dan Rapaport has noticed that the new league is struggling to make a new star for the sport, while the PGA has them constantly rolling in.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dan Rapaport On The Rookies<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The argument that Rapaport is making is based on simple observation.\u00a0 Sure, LIV Golf has all these stars who joined when the league first formed, but not much beyond them.\u00a0 There have been rookie players who joined LIV, but they rarely get much attention.\u00a0 Meanwhile, at the PGA Tour, players like<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/2025\/03\/19\/danny-walker-rookie-golfer\/\" target=\"_self\"> Danny Walker are gaining traction<\/a> in just the first half of their first year.\u00a0 <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vtcLfu65SjE\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rapaport said this on his show<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe PGA Tour has an ability to coin new stars that LIV just doesn\u2019t. They just don\u2019t. The closest thing to a star that they\u2019ve created is Joaquin Niemann, and all the discourse is about how he doesn\u2019t do s\u2013t in the majors. It\u2019s not like, \u2018oh, he\u2019s a new star in the game\u2019.
