LIV Golf<\/a> has announced that it will host its first-ever tournament in South Africa as part of its expanding global calendar. The event is scheduled to take place from March 20\u201322, 2026, at The Club at Steyn City, located just outside Johannesburg.<\/p>\n

This marks the league\u2019s official debut on the African continent, signifying a major step in its international growth. The announcement has generated excitement across the South African golf community and beyond.<\/p>\n

Hallet: South Africa Has Proud Sporting Heritage<\/h2>\n

LIV Golf selected The Club at Steyn City \u2014 a championship course designed by Nicklaus Design \u2014 as the venue for this historic tournament. Additionally, the course is part of a luxury lifestyle estate and has previously hosted several Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour<\/a> events. Steyn City\u2019s scenic layout, modern facilities, and high-level course design equip it to welcome the world\u2019s best players and a large international audience.<\/p>\n

As with other events, this LIV Golf tournament will follow the league\u2019s signature 54-hole format, played over three days, with both individual and team competitions running simultaneously. Fans can expect a high level of competition from start to finish.<\/p>\n

\u201cBringing LIV Golf to South Africa is another significant moment in our journey,” LIV Golf Executive Vice President and Head of Events, Ross Hallett said in a statement.<\/a><\/p>\n

“The country has a proud sporting heritage with passionate fans and world-class talent, and Steyn City will be an incredible host venue to celebrate this next chapter. We currently have events in Asia, Europe, Australasia, North America and today we add Africa, marking another exciting opportunity to showcase LIV Golf to a new audience and market.”<\/p>\n

Oosthuizen Looking Forward To \u201cUnforgettable Experience<\/h2>\n

The event will be especially meaningful for South African players on the LIV Golf roster. The country\u2019s all-South African team, Stinger GC, will have the opportunity to play in front of home fans. The team features Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Branden Grace, and Dean Burmester\u2014all expected to play key roles in the tournament.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ll compete alongside a strong international field that includes global stars like Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau<\/a>, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith, and Phil Mickelson, among others. The mix of local heroes and international champions is set to attract major attention and draw large crowds.<\/p>\n
