As the PGA Tour continues on in this 2025 season of play, one of the most notable and awaited tournaments is set to take place July 17th. The Open will be a stage many of the top golfers around, will be looking to play their best at. Previous winner in Xander Schauffele<\/a> is expecting another strong outing, having overcome the odds stacked against him last time around. With many considering this to be the most prestigious event like that of The Masters, many have expressed what a victory at The Open would mean or even still leave in question.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Most Prestigious Event\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

With many discussions throughout media appearances all being centered upon The Open, players within the Tour have voiced what it means to them. From those like Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler,<\/a> and many others who understand the opportunity gearing up to take place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“The most prestigious event you can win in golf,\u201d Rahm said.<\/a> “There’s an order to it too because it changes venues, so if you can win it in St Andrews, I don’t think anything in golf can come close to that.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Levels to the difficulty or even course location, can amplify the meaning of the tournament taking place. On the other hand, you have those like No. one in the sport in Scottie Scheffler who feel different. Different in the sense that now, Scheffler is wondering early on about what\u2019s next and the newly centered upon career goal. When you reach a mountaintop of success, there is often a new created eagerness for more. Taking a win at this upcoming Open Championship, will only add to the already long list of achievements for Scheffler and company.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Why do I want to win The Open Championship so badly? I don’t know because, if I win, it’s going to be awesome for two minutes… we work so hard for such little moments,\u201d Scheffler said.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

What Is The End Goal?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Like with any career lane or mindset, there is an end goal of some sort. A big topic and even question similarly seen in this season of Tour play. Realizing that career victories are not the only ones that matter, but also all the wins outside of the sport. There will be a new energy and atmosphere surrounding this season’s Open Championship, and due to the field of golfers coming to deeper understanding. A win here will mean the world to arguably all in competition, yet it will be the next steps after that many will try and decipher early on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019ve always been a player that struggles to play after a big event, after I win whatever tournament,\u201d Rory McIlroy said. \u201cI always struggle to show up with motivation the next week because you\u2019ve just accomplished something and you want to enjoy it and you want to sort of relish the fact that you\u2019ve achieved a goal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It will be interesting to see competitive nature at The Open, including any outbursts that may come due to the pressure and environment. A tournament does not get much bigger than this, especially when those in competition have different viewpoints than before.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
