Amateur player has <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/2025\/03\/02\/luke-clanton-pga-tour-card\/\" target=\"_self\">earned his Tour card at the Zurich Classic<\/a>.\u00a0 Later, he made his professional <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/luke-clanton-to-make-pro-debut-at-rbc-canadian-open\/\" target=\"_self\">debut at the RBC Canadian Open<\/a>.\u00a0 Where he was more star-struck than nervous about making an appearance, now that he is settling into the world of professional golf, there are quite a few questions revolving around Luke Clanton.\u00a0 One of which is whether playing for prize money will change him in any way.\u00a0 To which Clanton answered with a definitive no.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Luke Clanton Keeping Himself Humble<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When it comes to Luke Clanton, he has only been playing professionally for a month.\u00a0 Still bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.\u00a0 The only reason he waited a couple of months before officially going pro was that the spring semester hadn\u2019t wrapped up yet.\u00a0 When he did finally go pro, he didn\u2019t treat it like a big ego trip.\u00a0 He was more like a kid getting to meet Spider-Man when he played at the RBC Canadian Open.\u00a0 A lot was happening at that event, too, despite being the one right before a major.\u00a0 It was an event that saw a player leave for his growing family, another make one of his final appearances, and yet another make a small return to a PGA event.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clanton On The Prize Money<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Luke Clanton was <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-XoaxsYTM5M\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">asked about how the prize money affected him<\/a> after going pro.\u00a0 Specifically, he was asked if playing for money made him feel different.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAbsolutely nothing.\u201d\u00a0 Clanton said, \u201cSame thing for me. Going out here to compete against the best. You know, I think a dollar sign would not change my point of view on anything.\u201c\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clanton was then asked if his perspective had changed in any way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAgain, no, not really. It\u2019s still a game at the end of the day. I think, yeah, obviously it\u2019s my job now. It\u2019s a pretty incredible job to have to be able to go out and play golf every day. Again, you can say it\u2019s a job, but it\u2019s not really a job. We\u2019re going out to play golf. It\u2019s pretty amazing. So, yeah.\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was another <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/luke-clanton-shares-his-thoughts-on-the-being-a-pro\/\" target=\"_self\">interview Clanton had done on the Golf Channel for The Scoo<\/a>p, where he stated that playing pro was easier than college golf.\u00a0 Mostly due to how his schedule is just golf and training for golf, and he loves golf.\u00a0 For Luke Clanton, the prize money just means he doesn\u2019t have to worry about bills.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Perfect Job<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clanton is the kind of player who is there because he just loves the sport that much.\u00a0 The fans and other players like seeing him on the field, too.\u00a0 Clanton is the kind of guy who will keep himself grounded in the face of all the praise he has been receiving.\u00a0 There is an old saying that says,\u00a0 \u201cIf You Love What You Do, You\u2019ll Never Work A Day In Your Life.\u201d\u00a0 Clanton fits into that old saying.\u00a0 Sure, he will tell people that golf is his job now, but he will also tell everyone that this is the best job he has ever had.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Main Photo Credit:\u00a0 \u00a9 Aaron Doster-Imagn Images<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in March, the no 1.
