In the lead-up to the Rocket Classic in Detroit, there have been a few withdrawals from the event.\u00a0 Not as many as the RBC Canadian, but still a notable amount.\u00a0 One withdrawal was Tony Finau<\/a>.\u00a0 A move that has left fans and reporters wondering if it had something to do with his recovery.\u00a0 The people were left to speculate because the official PGA Tour Communications Twitter account initially announced the news<\/a>.\u00a0 On Wednesday, though, Finau took to social media to make his official announcement of withdrawal, along with his reasoning to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tony Finau Explains<\/span><\/h2>\n

In a post, Finau explains that his decision was due to him needing some rest and recovery after the last event he was in.\u00a0 In the post, he makes it clear that it wasn\u2019t a decision he was happy to make, but one he needed to make.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finau said, \u201cHey Detroit, you know I love the 313 and am proud to be the 2022 Champ of the Community\u2019s Classic! This tournament and this community mean a lot to me so I\u2019m bummed to share that I won\u2019t be competing this week due to some needed rest and recovery. I know you will all have a blast this week, and I hope to be back in the 313 in the years to come! All my best to everyone competing this week and to all involved in this great tournament.\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n

Finau goes on to reflect on his performance for this year, calling it a mixed bag with some good finishes and mostly bad ones.\u00a0 He ended it on a positive note, hoping to turn things around for himself for his career.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Future For Finau<\/span><\/h2>\n

Tony Finau is very much aware that his performance hasn\u2019t been the best this year.\u00a0 In small part because of the injury he sustained last year.\u00a0 Yet he is keeping his head held up high, reminding himself to try and do something special each week.\u00a0 He also reminds himself that anything can happen on the field.\u00a0 His career can take a turn at any moment.\u00a0 He may have missed events like the Zurich Classic<\/a> and now the Rocket Classic.\u00a0 However, he will have plenty of opportunities in the remainder of the season to turn things around.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On To The Classic<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Rocket Classic is now underway, and Joseph Bramlett will be taking Finau\u2019s space.\u00a0 Going off of Finau\u2019s positive attitude, the alternates for the classic may make a turnaround.\u00a0 Just in the RBC Canadian Open,<\/a> some alternates took advantage of the opportunity given to give it their all.\u00a0 Cameron Champ played his heart out<\/a> at the event while being down on his luck with the sport.\u00a0 Same for Josh Goldenberg, who was moving on from golf<\/a> to settle down and get an office job in finance.\u00a0 Each withdrawal is an opportunity for a hopeful alternative, a fine attitude to keep when going into an event.\u00a0 <\/span>Finau will be missed at the Rocket Classic, and although his performance hasn\u2019t been the best this year, his positive attitude could be what he needs to make the turnaround he needs for his career.<\/span><\/p>\n
