Collin Morikawa<\/a> got into a heated exchange with a reporter during his media duties at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The 28-year-old took issue with parts of the article and felt the reporter portrayed him in a bad light.<\/p>\n

Morikawa has been in the news lately after splitting with his caddie<\/a>, Joe Greiner. The two had only worked together for five events before going their separate ways. With the Open Championship just weeks away, Morikawa is yet to confirm a full-time replacement. For now, his longtime friend and Korn Ferry Tour pro, K.K. Limbhasut, is carrying his bag.<\/p>\n

The topic of Morikawa’s caddie came up, but things turned tense when Morikawa took issue with an article the reporter had written. The reporter had mentioned that during the pro-am, Morikawa asked fans to wait two and a half hours before he could sign autographs. The article seemed to suggest that Morikawa was being dismissive or unfriendly, and the golfer was not pleased with that impression.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t, and, you know, I read your article that you wrote,\u201d he said. \u201cLook, I’m not here to tell people how to do their jobs, but I don’t get why you would make me sound bad, because you put out my quote that I was playing with pro-am partners out front. Those guys are paying a lot of money, they are very important to the community, they are very important to the Rocket Classics. And for you to put out a quote like that to put me down in saying, hey wait two and a half hours. I mean you called me up on the first tee, you know? So, I’m not going to tell you how to do your job. You can write whatever you want. This is America. But don’t put me down like that because it’s two and half hours.\u201d<\/p>\n
