{"id":435501,"date":"2025-06-25T14:49:06","date_gmt":"2025-06-25T14:49:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=435501"},"modified":"2025-06-25T14:49:06","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T14:49:06","slug":"tony-finau-withdraws-from-the-rocket-classic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/tony-finau-withdraws-from-the-rocket-classic\/","title":{"rendered":"Tony Finau Withdraws From The Rocket Classic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the Rocket Classic around the corner, the playing field is taking shape with some surprises.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/james-piot-making-first-pga-appearance-since-leaving-liv-golf\/\" target=\"_self\">James Piot is making his grand PGA return,<\/a> and fans are already making their bets on the players.\u00a0 Unfortunately, some players are dropping out of the event.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/rbc-canadian-open-sees-several-withdrawals-before-the-event\/\" target=\"_self\">Not as many as the RBC Canadian Open<\/a> just a few short weeks ago.\u00a0 The list currently sits at seven, but there are notable names in that list, including Tony Finau.\u00a0 A player who is in a position where he should reconsider that decision.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tony Finau Withdraws<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The news of Finau\u2019s withdrawal doesn\u2019t come with his reasoning for doing so.\u00a0 As of right now, it is anyone\u2019s guess as to why he is doing this.\u00a0 There are theories that it has something to do with his surgery from last year.\u00a0 This isn\u2019t the first event he withdrew from this year.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/tony-finau-skipped-zurich-classic\/\" target=\"_self\">He didn\u2019t attend the Zurich Classic<\/a>, a move for which he has received criticism.\u00a0 <a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PGATOURComms\/status\/1937568288432623714\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The official PGA Tour Communications Twitter account put out he news<\/a> in the early afternoon on Tuesday.\u00a0 There, they announced that Joseph Bramlett will be taking Finau\u2019s spot unless something else happens.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finaus Standing<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tony Finau has had a rough 2025.\u00a0 This is why he was criticised for pulling out of the Zurich Classic back in April, and there is no doubt that he\u2019ll be criticised for this withdrawal too.\u00a0 Joseph Lamanga made this criticism when Finau initially withdrew from the Zurich Classic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m telling you, that\u2019s one of my biggest notes for this \u2013 where\u2019s Tony Finau, and I\u2019m serious.
