This 2025 PGA Tour season<\/a> of play has been one for the books to say the least by all means. From next level victories, underdog tournament victories, course emotional outbreaks, and even unfortunate injuries. The Tour has been able to showcase almost every input into its equation, showcasing the reality of mishap this past Travelers Championship tournament.<\/a> After a tough round three for Scottie Scheffler, Tommy Fleetwood found himself battling back to steal the first place standing. Headed into the final round of play on Sunday, a snowball effect kicked in for Fleetwood. Finishing with a frustrating tie for second place with Russel Henley, Fleetwood will have to maneuver through these stinging emotions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Almost But Not Quite\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

When many thought the 34-year-old would pull off the upset, Fleetwood was not able to hold off the field for his first ever Tour win. It has been a frustrating 159 total events played, with 135 cuts made and 28 top five finishes. The final round at TPC River Highlands started off rough, putting up three bogeys in the front nine for Fleetwood.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m upset now and just angry,\u201d Fleetwood said. \u201cWhen it calms down, I\u2019ll look at the things I did good and things I can learn from.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That positive outlook even after the misfortunate ending, is why the pro since 2010 is highly respected throughout the Tour. This was more than just another tournament or chance at victory, Fleetwood was playing for more than a decade of almost wins. Having to head back to the drawing board with his team is unfortunate but not unfamiliar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s Next For Fleetwood<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

According to reports and personal schedule<\/a> of Fleetwood, the English superstar is due for his next start at the Genesis Scottish Open. Followed a week later, with the Open Championship at Royal Portrush. The search for every golfer’s dream in a Tour victory continues, and will only become harder to come by.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI did plenty of things well enough this week to win, I didn\u2019t do that, it hurts.\u201d Fleetwood said.<\/a> \u201cWhen it calms down, the most stupid thing to do and the worse thing to do would be to make a week like this a hindrance to what you do going forward.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The confidence will be key given the nature of golf, a sport where you can only control so much. Even those in positions like Scheffler have been in familiar territory, looking for an answer. It\u2019s about the performance on the back-end, the grit to keep swinging for that first Tour win and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI obviously played great, I put myself in a great position, I was leading the tournament for 71 holes,\u201d\u00a0 Fleetwood said.<\/a> \u201cI just want to make sure that I can put myself in this position as soon as possible again and try and correct what I did this time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That time will be right around the corner, with Fleetwood to appear next at the Genesis Scottish Open on July 9th.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
