The 2025 US Open has been a difficult one for the players.\u00a0 It all centers around the Oakmont Country Club being an infamous course<\/a>.\u00a0 This fact was very apparent when two things happened.\u00a0 Number one being when Rory McIlroy threw his club<\/a>, and number two being when a player took out his frustration in the locker room<\/a>.\u00a0 Now that the information has had time to process, Brandel Chamblee has taken the stance that the player responsible for the locker room damage should be suspended for it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oakmont Locker Room Recap<\/span><\/h2>\n

The incident that Chamblee has referred to was when a player was spotted hitting the historic lockers at Oakmont.\u00a0 Wyndham Clark has been cited as the player responsible for the damage done to the over 100-year-old lockers.\u00a0 Key observers of the pictures circulating also pointed out that the bag sitting next to the lockers in question was a match for Clark\u2019s.\u00a0 During the opening rounds for the Travelers Championship, Clark confirmed that he was responsible for it.\u00a0 When asked about the pictures, he responded.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had a lot of highs and lows in my career, especially this year, some lows. I made a mistake that I deeply regret. I\u2019m very sorry for what happened.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Clark went on to say that he wants to move on from the incident.\u00a0 Other players have defended his outburst, saying that they have gone through something similar in the past, with a particular emphasis on Oakmont.\u00a0 Brandel Chamblee has taken a different stance on the situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chamblee Responds<\/span><\/h2>\n

Brandel Chamblee saw the situation and was disgusted by it.\u00a0 He continued the common sense of empathy that all players shared regarding the frustration at the course.\u00a0 Chamblee shared a story of a similar incident that he witnessed firsthand when another player accidentally ripped the locker door off its hinges in a fit of rage.\u00a0 He told this story mainly to emphasise that he understands what the stress of a major can do.\u00a0 That feeling started melting away when he saw the pictures<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo when I saw the pictures of what Wyndham did, I thought, wow, it was far worse than what I had witnessed, and it wasn\u2019t one locker, it looked like three lockers. It was reprehensible for sure. You\u2019re a guest in these clubs. You\u2019re there for one week, and you\u2019re a guest; you\u2019re meant to behave like a guest. It\u2019s analogous to me to having somebody over at your house and they don\u2019t like what you serve them, so you start breaking dishes. You\u2019d ask them to leave.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Chamblee went on to explain that if he were in the commissioner’s shoes, he would write up a suspension.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chamblee Points Out Behavioral Expectations<\/span><\/h2>\n

When on the course, the players are expected to have their heads on their shoulders at all times.\u00a0 They are allowed to express some frustration, but not to this level.\u00a0 This is not the first time Wyndham Clark lost it during a major this year.\u00a0 That is something that fans have pointed out as the situation was unfolding.\u00a0 If the players cannot put the frustration behind them in a sport like this, they can and should expect consequences.<\/span><\/p>\n
