Right after the US Open, the prospects of Brian Rolapp becoming the new PGA CEO<\/a> have been made official.\u00a0 With Jay Monahan starting to transition his responsibilities to Rolapp<\/a>, the future of the PGA is in Rolapp\u2019s hands.\u00a0 One of the things Rolapp has promised is to end the golf civil war by seemingly rekindling talks of the PGA-LIV Merger.\u00a0 One of the questions that has arisen as a result is the suspension rule the PGA has in place for anyone who has participated in a LIV event.\u00a0 This question has been brought up by golf influencer Wesley Bryan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why Was Wesley Bryan Suspended?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Bryan has been a long-time golfer on the PGA Tour.\u00a0 He hasn\u2019t had a win since the 2017 RBC Heritage and has mostly focused on making content for his golf YouTube channel.\u00a0 Bryan has managed to secure a spot in several PGA events as an alternate player.\u00a0 Relying on another player to withdraw to play.\u00a0 It\u2019s a system that has gotten him mixed results.\u00a0 He played in the Farmers Insurance Open, but not in the Mexico Open.<\/span><\/p>\n

It all came to a head when Wesley Bryan joined the LIV Golf Duels in Miami, Florida<\/a>.\u00a0 This triggered the PGA Tour suspension rule.\u00a0 A rule that was created in response to the renegade league poaching PGA players.\u00a0 The suspension lasts a year, and Bryan won\u2019t be able to play many professional games of golf until then.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bryan Reaches Out To Brian<\/span><\/h2>\n

Fast forward to the US Open.\u00a0 At the start, word got out that a new CEO was coming in, but it wasn\u2019t confirmed until the event wrapped up with Spaun taking home first prize<\/a>.\u00a0 Upon announcement, the former NFL executive made a promise to end the golf civil war.\u00a0 No doubt an effort to bring back merger talks when they stalled after the president was involved.\u00a0 This is when Wesley Bryan comes back in response to Brian Rolapp\u2019s letter to the public<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLook forward to meeting you, Brian!\u00a0 Let\u2019s do something special with the game we love!\u00a0 I am excited to see how the PGA Tour evolves!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bryan is welcoming Rolapp into the PGA despite not being involved anymore.\u00a0 This could prove to be an important gesture for the influencer’s future in the sport.<\/span><\/p>\n

Will Anything Come From This?<\/span><\/h2>\n

With a new CEO coming in, there will be some changes in the PGA.\u00a0 If there are changes to the LIV Golf suspension policy, there will only be benefits with all the players involved.\u00a0 The suspension has always been a sticking point in the merger negotiations.\u00a0 Despite tensions being eased between the two leagues, the players have been kept apart beyond the majors.\u00a0 All in spite of the majority of LIV golfers being former PGA stars.\u00a0 Wesley Bryan reaching out to Brian Rolapp is a start to easing the tensions further.\u00a0 He was not loyal to either league, so he acts as an almost neutral third party, ongoing suspension notwithstanding.\u00a0 It will be interesting to see if Wesley Bryan is successful in reaching out to Brian Rolapp.<\/span><\/p>\n
