{"id":435284,"date":"2025-06-16T03:44:15","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T03:44:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=435284"},"modified":"2025-06-16T03:44:15","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T03:44:15","slug":"wyndham-clark-is-accused-of-destroying-lockers-at-oakmont","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/wyndham-clark-is-accused-of-destroying-lockers-at-oakmont\/","title":{"rendered":"Wyndham Clark Is Accused of Destroying Lockers At Oakmont"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is no secret how<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/u-s-open-oakmont-tough-play\/\" target=\"_self\"> brutal the Oakmont golf course can be<\/a>.\u00a0 This is the same course that has been almost boycotted in the past by PGA players.\u00a0 This is the one that the players have been dreading all season, no matter how skilled they are.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/us-open-at-oakmont-proves-difficult-for-past-champions\/\" target=\"_self\">Last year\u2019s US Open champion, Bryson DeChambeau, missed the cut<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/watch-rory-mcilroy-loses-cool-launches-club-after-miss-at-us-open\/\" target=\"_self\">Rory McIlroy got so angry that he threw his club<\/a> at one point.\u00a0 These feelings are felt throughout the field, to the point that it was discovered one of the players took out his frustration on the lockers.\u00a0 Currently, the prime suspect seems to be Wyndham Clark, who has a history of losing his cool in stressful situations this season.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wyndham Clark Is Accused<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Graeme_McDowell\/status\/1934063685011665038\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Photo evidence surfaced on Twitter<\/a> of the lockers in question looking like someone punched right through them.\u00a0 In the corner of the image, eagle-eyed observers have pointed out that it is Clark\u2019s bag sitting next to the lockers.\u00a0 There are claims that multiple eyewitnesses have seen Clark damaging the lockers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He has done some damage previously this year.\u00a0 During <a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NUCLRGOLF\/status\/1924461765766545526?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1924461765766545526%7Ctwgr%5E4b3e43f01549e880093db144cf033dc218f99a94%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sbnation.com%2F2025%2F5%2F19%2F24433273%2Fwyndham-clark-apologizes-outburst-final-round-pga-championship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the PGA Championship, Clark threw his club in frustration<\/a>, much like what McIlroy has done this week, and damaged a T-Mobile sign in the process as well as his club.\u00a0 He has, of course, since apologised for that incident.\u00a0 No word on the locker room damages.\u00a0 However, it is still unclear if it actually was him.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other Players React<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upon seeing the broken lockers, two players took to Twitter to express their shared feelings.\u00a0 Once again, the US Open is being held on a course that has been <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/unplayable-players-react-to-viral-oakmont-rough-mowing-video-ahead-of-u-s-open\/\" target=\"_self\">repeatedly described as unplayable<\/a>, despite the roughs being mowed and maintained.\u00a0 Graeme McDowell responded to the image by saying that Oakmont will test the players&#8217; mental fortitude.\u00a0 He has also stated that he\u2019s seen it in person back in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ian Poulter has expressed empathy towards Clark and revealed that he was in this same place mentally and expressed it in much the same way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI have inflicted severe Locker destruction through the years at US Opens and paid my fines,\u201d Poulter said in a tweet.\u00a0 \u201cGenerally, they have been our temporary build lockers. Not members&#8217; lockers. Not that that\u2019s an excuse.
