{"id":435235,"date":"2025-06-14T02:30:33","date_gmt":"2025-06-14T02:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=435235"},"modified":"2025-06-14T02:30:33","modified_gmt":"2025-06-14T02:30:33","slug":"brian-rolapp-leaving-nfl-for-pga-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/brian-rolapp-leaving-nfl-for-pga-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Brian Rolapp Leaving NFL For PGA Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the week of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/unplayable-players-react-to-viral-oakmont-rough-mowing-video-ahead-of-u-s-open\/\" target=\"_self\">US Open, a lot is happening at the most controversial course<\/a> on the Tour.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/bryson-dechambeau-admits-oakmont-got-me\/\" target=\"_self\"> Bryson DeChambeau is struggling on the field<\/a>, and<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/watch-rory-mcilroy-loses-cool-launches-club-after-miss-at-us-open\/\" target=\"_self\"> so is Rory McIlroy<\/a>.\u00a0 However, on the business side of things, there is a shakeup happening.\u00a0 There are talks about PGA Tour Enterprises getting a new CEO.\u00a0 Who is the new CEO?\u00a0 NFL executive Brian Rolapp.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Who Is Brian Rolapp?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brian Rolapp has been with the NFL since 2003, where he started as the director of finance.\u00a0 In 2005, he was promoted to vice president of media strategy until 2007, when he was promoted to senior vice president.\u00a0 Rolapp has been the EVP of the NFL Network since 2014.\u00a0 Sure, he hasn\u2019t been an executive for golf, but he has plenty of experience to bring to the PGA.\u00a0 He has been previously confirmed to be the PGA\u2019s top choice on its hunt for a new CEO.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rolapp was theorized to be taking over as commissioner of the NFL.\u00a0 The NFL\u2019s current commissioner, Roger Goodell, has<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/06\/12\/rolapp-leaving-nfl-goodell-confirms-as-pga-tour-ceo-announcement-looms\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> confirmed Rolapp\u2019s departure in a statement reported by Sports Business Journa<\/a>l.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe have spent some time planning for this change and are confident we will successfully manage the responsibilities while we align our structure to meet our long-term strategic goals,\u201d Goodell wrote<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PGA Tour Enterprises<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PGA Tour Enterprises is a financial initiative for players in the league to keep them motivated as a response to LIV Golf.\u00a0 It is separate from the main part of the PGA Tour and is a for-profit arm of the league, as opposed to the rest being non-profit.\u00a0 It gives players a chance to own equity in the PGA and for them to add more value by playing harder.\u00a0 There are a few players on the board for the enterprise, including Tiger Woods.\u00a0 There were plans for the PIF to have a seat on the board as part of the merger, but with that stalling, that position has never been filled.\u00a0 This is the organization that Brian Rolapp is going to be the head of.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What Does Rolapp Mean For Monahan?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jay Monahan has been planning to step down as commissioner for some time now.\u00a0 Monahan has had to temporarily step back from his role in 2023, citing stress as a primary reason.\u00a0 Then, back in December, Monahan announced that the circuit was looking for a new CEO, and until now, there haven&#8217;t been many updates.\u00a0 Rolapp will also not be replacing Monahan;
