The RBC Canadian is not only the event that\u2019s right before the third major of the year, but it is also the second oldest non-major event on the Tour.\u00a0 It will be a big event for players like Luke Clanton, with it being his first event as a pro player.\u00a0 This year, however, there have been several withdrawals since Saturday.\u00a0 Which players are withdrawing, and why are they leaving?<\/span><\/p>\n

Who Withdrew From The RBC Canadian Open?<\/span><\/h2>\n

At the time of writing, several players had to withdraw for one reason or another.\u00a0 Given the current developments, there may be more to come.\u00a0 K.H. Lee was the first to withdraw, this has to do with a back injury he sustained in March during the Houston Open.<\/a>\u00a0 His replacement for the RBC Canadian was supposed to be Brandon Matthews.\u00a0 Matthews would also withdraw for currently unknown reasons.<\/span><\/p>\n

Third on the list to withdraw is Ben Martin, whose reasoning is not specified at the time of writing but will most likely be revealed later on.\u00a0 Michael Kim and Brian Campbell both had to withdraw due to their own injuries.\u00a0 Kim\u2019s injury isn\u2019t as severe as Lee\u2019s, so he\u2019s just taking the week off for a bit of R&R ahead of the US Open.\u00a0 Michael Thorbjornsen also had to withdraw, possibly due to the wrist injury he sustained during the Charles Schwab Challenge.\u00a0 Finally, there is Matt Kuchar, who hadn\u2019t given a reason as to why.<\/span><\/p>\n

PGA Scrables To Fill Spots<\/span><\/h2>\n

As expected, the event organizers for the RBC Canadian are working to fill these positions as they pop up.\u00a0 It can\u2019t be an easy task given how often it is happening for this event, and that one of the replacements also dropped out.\u00a0 The Tour put out an official announcement with time changes<\/a> on the official Twitter account, but it was quickly made out of date.\u00a0 This will give more opportunities to the alternate players.\u00a0 Like what happened with Danny Walker<\/a>, minus the part about him being on the toilet when getting the news.<\/span><\/p>\n

Will The RBC Canadian Be Like The CJ Cup, Byron Nelson?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Fans may remember that something similar happened during the Byron Nelson<\/a>.\u00a0 It had a very rough start with the practice rounds being rained out, and then twelve players dropped out for one reason or another.\u00a0 Among the reasons given for dropping out were mostly injuries.\u00a0 The comparisons are already getting strong.\u00a0 Already, there is a chance for rain in the area on Thursday.\u00a0 Hopefully, it stays a drizzle as the forecast predicts.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Will The RBC Canadian Hold?<\/span><\/h2>\n

With these withdrawals, the RBC Canadian is already becoming a little bit unpredictable.\u00a0 At least in the sense of what the players will bring.\u00a0 The star players attending will be using the event as practice for the US Open coming next week.\u00a0 If the Byron Nelson is anything to go by, the star players are more than likely to sweep.\u00a0 Scottie Scheffler easily won that event without breaking a sweat, and that was right before his victory at the PGA Championship.\u00a0 It will, of course, be a good idea to pay attention to who makes it into the top ten.\u00a0 For now, though, the RBC Canadian Open is shaping up to be an interesting prelude going into the US Open.<\/span><\/p>\n
