With the US Open coming up in June, golfers across all leagues are scrambling to get in.\u00a0 Fans can expect all the favorites to attend.\u00a0 The previous two major winners, Rory McIlroy<\/a> and Scottie Scheffler,<\/a> will be attending.\u00a0 Joaquin Niemann has qualified<\/a>, but feels a bit uneasy about accepting it.\u00a0 Fans can now look forward to seeing another Masters Champion on the field.\u00a0 LIV golfer Patrick Reed has qualified for the US Open and is looking forward to giving it his all during the tournament.<\/span><\/p>\n

Patrick Reed Qualifies<\/span><\/h2>\n

There are several ways to gain entry to a major event like the US Open.\u00a0 There are, of course, some qualifying rounds like how Niemann qualified.\u00a0 Then there is being a past champion, majors like the Masters and the US Open welcome back past champions with open arms.\u00a0 Then there is how Reed got in, he managed to qualify by being in the top 60 of the OWGR.\u00a0 Specifically, he holds the 55th position.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Reed has also qualified and played in the previous two majors, meeting the same qualifications, as well as his previous Masters win back in 2018.\u00a0 This year, he placed third in the Masters, but unfortunately, he missed the cut for the PGA Championship.\u00a0 Now he gets a chance to make up for that in the US Open.<\/span><\/p>\n

An Uphill Struggle<\/span><\/h2>\n

Although he is on the top 100 list, Reed\u2019s efforts to get as far as he has have been a struggle.\u00a0 This is just the case with any LIV golfer.\u00a0 He was originally on the PGA Tour before the league began in 2022, and the PGA decided to retaliate.\u00a0 One thing that LIV Golf lacks is an agreement with the OWGR for points<\/a>.\u00a0 Something that the players could really use to keep themselves in the limelight, and get things like major invitations.\u00a0 It is very difficult for any LIV golfer to acquire these points; most are relying on other leagues that aren\u2019t nearly as hostile towards LIV as the PGA.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As stated before, there will be other LIV players joining Reed at the open<\/a>.\u00a0 Bryson DeChambeau qualified by being in the top ten of the OWGR.\u00a0 Dustin Johnson was the 2016 winner, and Brooks Koepka won the US Open twice in 2017 and 2018.\u00a0 Currently, a majority of LIV players are returning based on their past major wins.\u00a0 There are a few more who got in through the qualifying rounds, so LIV fans can look forward to seeing some fresh faces in the major from LIV.<\/span><\/p>\n

Patrick Reed is Off To The US Open<\/span><\/h2>\n

With the US Open less than two weeks away, it is good to see how the event is shaping up.\u00a0 Being a major, it means that other players will be clamoring for the win to get the glory of winning a major.\u00a0 Others will be vying for their own grand slams, and one player will be defending his title.\u00a0 Hopefully, this one won\u2019t see heavy rain in the lead-up like the Masters<\/a> and the PGA Championship<\/a> have seen this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
