{"id":434921,"date":"2025-05-27T04:32:45","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T04:32:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=434921"},"modified":"2025-05-27T04:32:45","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T04:32:45","slug":"scottie-scheffler-continues-cut-streak-with-55-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/scottie-scheffler-continues-cut-streak-with-55-events\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottie Scheffler Continues Cut Streak With 55 Events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year, Scottie Scheffler has managed to reach 100 consecutive weeks in the No. 1 spot in the OWGR.\u00a0 He is currently keeping his lead in that race, and is still leaving other top players in the dust.\u00a0 It\u2019s an achievement so hard to get that the last golfer to get it was Tiger Woods.\u00a0 Scheffler is working on accomplishing something else, something that he almost lost during the Charles Schwab Challenge.\u00a0 Scheffler is currently in 7th for most cuts made in a row, and is looking to continue his streak that now sits at 55.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scheffler\u2019s Cut Streak<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scottie Scheffler has been playing professionally since 2018 and has competed in a total of 162 events.\u00a0 He only missed the cut in 24 of those events, and managed to get in the top 10 of 77 events with a total of 17 wins under his belt, including three major wins.\u00a0 All of this is according to <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.pgatour.com\/player\/46046\/scottie-scheffler\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his PGA player bio on the official site<\/a>.\u00a0 This is all on top of making the cut 55 events in a row.\u00a0 Only six other golfers have been able to make more, with, of course, Tiger Woods having 142.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xander Schauffele is ahead of Scheffler at 64, but if all goes well.\u00a0 It is predicted that both golfers will surpass Dow Finsterwald, who sits at 72, by the end of the year.\u00a0 All he has to do is keep making the cut at every event he attends in the meantime.\u00a0 However, this past weekend, his streak almost came to a halt after a bad first two rounds.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Streak Almost Broke<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite being a very clearly skilled player, Sheffler almost lost his streak at the Charles Schwab Challenge.\u00a0 What happened is that his first two rounds were just abysmal for him.\u00a0 He only hit 15 out of 28 fairways, his putting was shaky at two strokes on the green, and he capped both rounds off at a 68 and 71.\u00a0 Very unusual for Scheffler, and he was visibly troubled by his performance while making rookie mistakes along the way.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yet he managed to squeeze on by and made the cut, continuing his streak.\u00a0 Then on Saturday, something changed, and he made a more typical 64 for his third round.\u00a0 He was clearly off kilter and left fans on the edge of their seats wondering if the world No. 1 would make it.\u00a0 Sure, he didn\u2019t win the event, but he secured his spot for the final half and made it to the top five.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sheffler Continues On<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite a bad start to his most recent event, Sheffler held on.\u00a0 He is accruing all these records and is determined to keep them going, even on a bad day.\u00a0 Scheffler is well on the way to being able to compete with Tiger Woods&#8217;
