History continues to not only be made in the sport of golf, but also for the world renowned athlete in Scottie Scheffler.<\/a> Scheffler spent the weekend back where he first made his PGA Tour debut, the CJ CUP Byron Nelson.<\/a> Grabbing his first 2025 season Tour victory, after nine events played and cuts made thus far. He continues his dominance in a field of many other talented golfers, putting on display his ability to split apart from completion easily. Through the first nine holes, Scheffler managed to start strong going out with 30. Throughout the tournament, he continued to improve and move towards this first season victory in his current hometown. Gaining six shots on the field average every outing, he finished holding a trophy and tying the PGA Tour record with a 253 total.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Personal Win For Scheffler\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As a professional in this sport since 2018, many accomplishments for Scheffler have been welcomed with little emotion. This time around, the star was caught up in the personal meanings of this victory at TPC Craig Ranch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels like a lifetime of hard work and sacrifices for little moments like these and they\u2019re pretty special,\u201d Scheffler said.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The remarkable finishing score of 253 tied the record for the lowest score in PGA Tour history, with good company. Joining the group with Justin Thomas who completed his at the 2017 Sony Open, and Ludvig Aberg at the 2023 RSM Classic. Being in such good company is an accomplishment in itself by all means. Although Scheffler was able to leave this tournament with a much deserved victory, it has not been a \u201ccakewalk\u201d this season as compared to others. Even with things being more difficult this season, he has put together 6 top ten finishes and one runner-up finish as well. The season will continue, with Scheffler having now knocked off the cobwebs and now back into the winning circle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wins Result In Big Paydays\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Taking home this tournament meant a big payout for the deserving winner, and a considerable amount to the top ten finishers in general. Yet, Scheffler walked away with the biggest smile and $1.782 million dollars richer. Grabbing a huge payout like such is a life changing opportunity for most in this situation, and one that can help the No. one golfer in the world out even more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI never really felt like my lead was too comfortable,\u201d Scheffler said.<\/a> \u201cI always tried to keep pushing, hitting good shots.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That ability to keep pushing is the exact motto put into the mind of Scheffler during this season of many surprises. <\/span>Also gaining the title of the first Dallas-area high school grad to win the Byron Nelson since 2007, continuing his history this weekend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“This tournament means a lot to me,” Scheffler told the CBS broadcast after the victory. “It\u2019s my first start as a pro, 11 years ago, I had my sister caddying for me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This course in itself had history for the entire Scheffler family, as they watched history be made this weekend in that very same setting.<\/span><\/p>\n
