Shane Lowry aim to achieve his best-ever world ranking when he competes at the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational<\/a> this week. The Irishman moved to 17th in the official world golf ranking<\/a> after a superb finish at the Cognizant Classic on Sunday. His career-best ranking to date is 16th, achieved after winning The Open in 2019<\/a>. Lowry now sets his sights on surpassing this milestone as the Arnold Palmer Invitational kicks off on March 6 at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Florida.<\/p>\n

The 37-years old has a good record at Bay Hill, having finished third at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last year. Shane is also currently 18th in the FedExCup<\/a> on the PGA Tour as he sits comfortably in the top 20. He is also currently fifth in the European Ryder Cup Rankings, and on course to automatically make the team in August.<\/p>\n

This marks a significant improvement for him after he failed to qualify for the Tour Championship<\/a> at East Lake in 2023. Consequently, the Offaly-born golfer had to rely on sponsor invitations to enter larger PGA Tour events in 2024.<\/p>\n

Shane Lowry’s Game Perfectly Made For Bay Hill<\/h2>\n

After finishing third last year, Shane Lowry<\/a> will be hoping to improve on that performance. The Irishman will be buoyed by the fact that his game is perfectly suited to Bay Bill. The Bay Hill Golf Course is regarded as one of the toughest courses on the PGA Tour, but one would suggest that Lowry has what it takes to conquer it.<\/p>\n

For starters, Bay Hill requires precision and accuracy, and Lowry is known as a strong driver while his approach play is regarded as one of the best on tour. Additionally, he has a solid short game and he’s great at getting the ball close to the pin and making birdies.<\/p>\n

The Irishman was one of the best players on tour last year when it came to approaching the green. He averaged an impressive 0.531 strokes gained. This shows that he has the skills to compete with the best players in the world on a course well suited to his strengths.<\/p>\n

Shane’s game is all about strategy and finesse. He doesn’t try to blast the ball 350 yards off the tee like some of the bigger hitters on tour. Instead, he focuses on finding the fairway and giving himself a chance to attack the pin. That approach has worked well for him at Bay Hill in the past, and it’s likely to do so again this year.<\/p>\n

A good performance at Bay Hill could boost Lowry’s world ranking, potentially surpassing his career-best of 16. The 37-year-old knows that finishing higher than last year’s third place could propel him to a new personal best in the rankings.<\/p>\n
