With the Genesis<\/a> Invitational underway, it is important to remember the events and the tragedy that currently surround it.\u00a0 From the relocation due to the fires<\/a> to the frantic reorganization to keep it going, as well as a high-profile player withdrawing, a lot was happening with this event.\u00a0 As the Invitational commences though, it’s not just the drives and putts that garnering attention. At the fore is a charitable component with the event to help those in need in Los Angeles.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Genesis Invitational Relocation<\/span><\/h2>\n

Originally the Genesis Invitational was to be played at the Riviera in Los Angeles.\u00a0 It has been the event’s home after all.\u00a0 Those plans changed after the wildfires tore their way through the city in January.\u00a0 Now the event will be taking place in Torrey Pines, a course located 103 miles south in the San Diego area.\u00a0 In the original announcement for the relocation, Tiger Woods made a call to anyone listening to help out with relief efforts for the people of Los Angeles.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

‘Birdies For Good’ During Genesis Invitational<\/span><\/h2>\n

In light of the Los Angeles wildfires, Tiger Woods decided that the Genesis Invitational should be dedicated to relief efforts.\u00a0 The event now has a program to raise more money for the city.\u00a0 This program is being called “Birdies for Good”.\u00a0 Essentially, any player who gets a birdie or better will trigger the PGA to make a donation starting at $300.<\/span><\/p>\n
