As one of the betting favorites, his withdrawal shakes up the betting odds.

Aberg was given 18-1 odds to win at Pebble Beach. This gave bets more upside than bets on Scottie Scheffler (4-1) and Rory McIlroy (11-1). If you wanted to bet on a consistent top performer and still have a good chance at making good money, he would be your guy.

Ludvig Aberg Withdrawal

Hot Start to 2025, Noticeable Decline

Why did Aberg have the 5th best betting odds? His 5th place performance at the Sentry proved Aberg was one to watch all season, as we knew he would be. Even the first round of the Farmer’s Insurance Open looked promising—he carded a 63, leading the field going into round 2.

From there, sickness took over. Aberg was hunched over the grass, noticeably in pain in each of the final 3 rounds. After entering round two at -9, Aberg finished the tournament at a disappointing +3, dragged primarily by the +7 in the final round.

Still, entering the tournament, the Swedish star had the 5th best odds to win it all. Aberg carded a field-worst 77 (+5) in round one, and decided before round two that he could not continue.

This shakes up the betting odds big time.
