Having hosted several tournaments including ones that Tiger Woods has competed in, it is well-equipped to handle the tournament.\u00a0 There are a couple of concerns with the venue being overwhelmed but there is a grace period between events if the original schedule is applied.<\/p>\n<p>The event was previously located at the Riviera Country Club and scheduled for February 13th-16th, hosted by Tiger Woods with <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/2025\/01\/21\/how-much-the-top-golfers-earned-on-the-2024-pga-tour\/\" target=\"_self\">prize money<\/a> of $20 million.\u00a0 The Riviera has hosted the tournament sixty times and is expected to host the 2026 US Women\u2019s Open and the 2028 Olympic golf tournament.\u00a0 However, the recent wildfires have done some considerable damage to the surrounding area prompting this venue change.\u00a0 The club itself has not been damaged, but PGA and Tiger Woods made this decision out of sympathy for the victims of the LA wildfires, as well as safety concerns for fans and competitors.<\/p>\n<h2>Genesis Invitational Relocated With San Diego Course Likely Destination<\/h2>\n<p>In a statement from <a  href=\"http:\/\/pgatour.com\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PGA Tour<\/a>, they commented:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe PGA Tour\u2019s focus continues to be on the safety and well-being of those affected by the unprecedented natural disaster in Greater Los Angeles,\u201d in a statement given on Thursday.\u00a0 \u201cWe are grateful for the life-saving efforts of first responders and the tireless work being done to put an end to the tragic wildfires.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn collaboration with Genesis, The Riviera Country Club, and TGR Live, and out of respect for the unfolding situation, we have determined that the 2025 Genesis will be played at an alternate location\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the same statement, it was announced that ticket refunds would be made due to the location change to the original payment methods through Ticketmaster.<\/p>\n<p>In another statement, Tiger Woods came out and said that the focus for him and the foundation was: \u201cTrying to just figure everything out and make sure that everyone is safe.\u201d\u00a0 He went on to say that the tournament was not a focus.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s more about what we can do to help everyone who\u2019s struggling, who\u2019s lost homes and had their lives changed.\u00a0 It\u2019s just hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PGA Tour has also decided to make its own efforts to help the people of LA and also encourage fans to make donations to help the relief effort.\u00a0 On their website, <a  href=\"http:\/\/pgatour.com\/SupportLA\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PGATOUR.COM\/SupportLA<\/a>, they set up donation links to both the Red Cross and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Due to the recent wildfires that have ravaged the Los Angeles area, PGA Tour\u2019s Genesis Invitational will in all likelihood be moved to\u00a0 Torrey Pines in San Diego.
