{"id":989,"date":"2016-09-27T11:50:16","date_gmt":"2016-09-27T15:50:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonfootball.com\/?p=989"},"modified":"2016-09-27T11:55:09","modified_gmt":"2016-09-27T15:55:09","slug":"sam-allardyce-sacked-england-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2016\/09\/27\/sam-allardyce-sacked-england-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Sam Allardyce Sacked as England Manager?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is widely speculated that<strong> Sam Allardyce<\/strong> has been sacked as the manager of <strong>England<\/strong> after an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2016\/09\/26\/exclusive-investigation-england-manager-sam-allardyce-for-sale\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">undercover sting<\/a> appeared to show him advising businessmen on how to bend <strong>FA<\/strong> rules on player transfers.\u00a0<strong>We are awaiting confirmation from The FA.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Those rules centre around third-party ownership of players. Allardyce had verbally agreed a \u00a3400,000-a-year deal to meet investors in a firm that did not exist.<\/p>\n<p>The 61-year-old met with FA <strong>Chairman<\/strong>, <strong>Greg<\/strong> <strong>Clarke<\/strong> and chief executive, <strong>Martin<\/strong> <strong>Glenn<\/strong> at <strong>Wembley<\/strong> <strong>Stadium<\/strong> to hear his side of the story.\u00a0 It is understood the FA felt they had no alternative but to relieve Allardyce of his duties just two months into his tenure.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Sam Allardyce Sacked as England Manager<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A practice that allows a third party, that is not affiliated with either club in the transfer of a player, third-party ownership has been banned in English football since 2008. It was also banned by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fifa.com\/mm\/document\/affederation\/footballgovernance\/02\/59\/55\/80\/third-partyownershipofplayerseconomicrights-backgroundinformation_neutral.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>FIFA<\/strong> last year<\/a>. But Allardyce, formerly of <strong>Newcastle<\/strong> and <strong>Bolton<\/strong>, was filmed by undercover reporters from <strong>The Telegraph<\/strong> posing as business men operating in the <strong>Far East<\/strong> explaining how to get round the FA\u2019s transfer rules.<\/p>\n<p>He was recorded saying: \u201cYou get a percentage of the player\u2019s agent\u2019s fee that the agent pays to you, the company, because he\u2019s done that new deal at the club again or they sell him on, and you\u2019re not getting a part of the transfer fee anymore, because you can\u2019t do that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut, you get \u2013 because of the size of the contracts now, the contract will be worth \u00a330, \u00a340 million, at 10 per cent and you\u2019ve done a deal with the agent where you\u2019re getting five per cent of the agent\u2019s fee, which is massive for doing about two hours\u2019 work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Allardyce was also filmed assessing his predecessor, <strong>Roy Hodgson\u2019s\u2019<\/strong> performance as England manager and referred to him as \u2018Woy\u2019, referencing Hodgson\u2019s speech impediment. He also criticised <strong>Gary<\/strong> <strong>Neville<\/strong>, the FA\u2019s decision to rebuild Wembley and <strong>Prince<\/strong> <strong>William<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Allardyce joins Pearce and Taylor in exclusive club<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Appointed in July, Allardyce signed a two-year contract with the FA worth \u00a36 million. He signed after helping <strong>Sunderland<\/strong> avoid relegation last year.<\/p>\n<p>Allardyce joins <strong>Stuart Pearce<\/strong> and <strong>Peter Taylor<\/strong> as England managers who only oversaw one match. In that game\u00a0he managed England to a late 1-0 win away to <strong>Slovakia<\/strong> in a <strong>2018 World Cup Qualifier<\/strong>. Midfielder\u00a0<strong>Adam Lallana<\/strong> scored a 94<sup>th<\/sup> minute goal to get Allardyce\u2019s England tenure up and running.<\/p>\n<p>He was due to name his second England squad this Sunday for next month\u2019s games against <strong>Malta<\/strong> and <strong>Slovenia<\/strong>.
