Oxford United<\/a> have made their first signing of the summer with the arrival of free agent Frankie Kent.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old defender joins the U’s having recently left Scottish Premiership runners-up, Hearts.<\/p>\n

Oxford United Sign Frankie Kent<\/h2>\n

Career So Far<\/h3>\n

A product of the Arsenal academy, Kent has over 400 senior career appearances for Colchester, Peterborough and Hearts.<\/p>\n

During his time with the Posh, he won promotion from League One, and he made 25 appearances for Hearts as they finished second in the Scottish Premiership last season.<\/p>\n

The centre back will provide a physical presence in the middle of the defence, and it’s an area of the pitch that the U’s needed to add depth.<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the club’s official website,<\/a> he said: \u201cThis is a very exciting move for me to be joining a Club with a clear ambition for success.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had very positive conversations with people at the Club, and I am confident I can use my experience to drive standards, not just on the pitch but off it as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI understand the demands of this league, and I return to England a much better player and leader following three fantastic years in Scotland.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve come here to help push this Club forward, and I\u2019ll do everything I can every day to help us improve and achieve our ambitions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Head coach Aaron Ramsey said: \u201cI had very positive conversations with the Club before arriving about the business we wanted to complete this summer, and I\u2019m delighted we\u2019ve moved quickly to bring in a player of Frankie\u2019s quality and character.<\/p>\n
