Sele\u00e7\u00e3o\u00a0wrapped up their 2026 World Cup preparations with a 2-1 win in Cleveland against fellow qualifiers Egypt. This was another win for Ancelotti\u2019s men, who comfortably beat Panama 6-2 in Rio de Janeiro last Sunday at the Maracana Stadium.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brazil started quickly against Egypt, with Bruno Guimaraes pressing Mohanad Lasheen into a mistake before finishing smartly to give his team the lead. A rare error from Marquinhos was punished by Mostafa Ziko, who drilled his shot past Alisson.<\/p>\n

Sele\u00e7\u00e3o\u00a0gradually began to dominate and create the better chances, with Shobeir making smart saves from Vinicius Jr and Raphinha.<\/p>\n

A plethora of changes were made at half-time by Sele\u00e7\u00e3o, with Endrick entering the fray, and the teenager received a pass from Raphinha and finished well for the winning goal. It wasn’t vintage Brazil, but there were some clear positives to take from the 2-1 win<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Early on in the friendly against Egypt, Carlo Ancelotti\u2019s squad were dealt a setback ahead of their June 13 World Cup opener against Morocco, when Wesley had to leave the pitch early in the first half, after picking up an injury. He was clearly upset<\/span><\/a> after leaving the game, fuelling speculation he would miss the 2026 World Cup. However, Ancelotti spoke<\/a> after the game regarding Wesley\u2019s condition:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to wait until tomorrow for the diagnosis. I think he\u2019ll have time to recover and be with us at this World Cup. He\u2019s an important player, he plays to the top of his game, with power.<\/p>\n

“He\u2019s learned a lot about the things he wasn\u2019t so good at\u2014defending, marking\u2014now in Italy. I hope it\u2019s nothing serious, that he receives the necessary treatment, and that he can continue with us on this journey. But I don\u2019t deny that there\u2019s urgency and concern; if it were to be something serious, it would be a shame.\u201d<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen if Wesley will recover in time for the first game, but despite the player’s initial reaction to the injury, Ancelotti appears somewhat optimistic he will be back soon for Sele\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n
