Since joining Liverpool from Hull City in 2017, Robertson has earned two Premier League medals and won the 2019 UEFA Champions League against Spurs. He quickly established himself as one of the best left-backs in world football.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tottenham\u2019s Left-Back Struggles<\/b><\/h3>\n

Destiny Udogie remains one of the highest-rated young left-backs in the league. However, injuries have undermined his progress in recent years. Hamstring and knee injuries limited the Italian to just 28 appearances in all competitions this season. While injuries plagued the entire squad\u2019s campaign, Udogie\u2019s struggles have been a constant theme since his arrival in 2023.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Davies\u2019 ankle surgery ruled him out of the second half of the campaign; however, the Welsh international had made just three league appearances prior. Djed Spence covered the left back position capably, but remains a better option on the right. With the unreliable nature of Udogie and the apparent decline of Davies, Robertson is set to play a major role under De Zerbi.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For Tottenham, Andy Robertson represents a smart piece of business. With no transfer fee paid, it is a low-risk deal. At 32, the Scot still has plenty to offer. He made 36 appearances for Liverpool in 2025\/26. Although he may not be a long-term solution, the 93-time capped international offers vast knowledge of the highest level. Considering the sheer volume of injuries that Spurs picked up this season, every member of the squad will be called upon, and experienced depth is particularly valuable.<\/span><\/p>\n
