The relegation battle is heating up in the Premier League as the pack around the final spot are running out of matches to secure their safety. Ahead of the weekend of exciting PL action, we will be looking at three matches which could help decide who settles for life in the Championship and who remains in the top division for one more season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Survival is getting closer and closer for Daniel Farke\u2019s side who switched to a 3-5-2 formation midway through the campaign and have yet to look back. Their physicality and the form of their attacking unit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and Lukas Nmecha have seen them go from relegation candidates to eyeballing a second campaign in the league.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is one of the easier-looking wins on their calendar, with the three points putting them ever closer to the mythical 40-point mark that tends to indicate safety in the Premier League. Despite looking better under Rob Edwards, the Wanderers are running out of time and motivation to climb off the bottom of the table, with their 17 points being as close to mathematical relegation as you can be while technically still being up.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Whites will have it all to play for in a bid to put themselves within a whisker of safety and an FA Cup semi-final appearance that would mark a very successful year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tottenham vs Brighton\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

It\u2019s not entirely out of the grasp of Roberto De Zerbi and his side, but Tottenham Hotspur are collapsing under the pressure with another bad result likely to twist the knife further. This is one of the games where a good result is feasible as De Zerbi returns to one of his previous sides, and if anyone knows how to exploit their gaps it would be someone who helped paper over them for some time. A loss here though, could mentally doom the Lilywhites squad to the reality of relegation.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is particularly true with West Ham looking decent since their January additions arrived, the West London outfit looks far more likely to pull out positive results than their London rivals having at least picked up 7 points from a possible 15 compared to just 1 in 15 from Tottenham.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nottingham Forest vs Burnley<\/b><\/h3>\n

Another one that sees a team currently escaping the drop against one that is just waiting to be officially sent down. This also has huge implications in the battle for the 17th spot as the Tricky Trees sit three points above 17th place. They are undefeated in their last four which has, more than anything, put the pressure squarely on Tottenham Hotspur as they went from a safer position to the bottom three due to Vitor Pereira\u2019s turnaround in Nottingham.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the Clarets, there isn\u2019t a lot left to play for, they sit on 20 points and are 10 points adrift of the side just above them, there\u2019s an additional two to three points needed then to escape the drop zone. While there is a mathematical chance of survival, it would have to start with a strong win here to kickstart their season that\u2019s never really got going.<\/span><\/p>\n
