With the title race being more straightforward, the real appeal and guesswork comes from the brewing relegation battle that could see one of the big six go down or a recent European champion drop to the EFL Championship. At this point, it would be a bigger surprise if the Gunners didn’t walk away with the trophy this season with the current odds backing them for success with such a one sided payout available.

Manchester City – 8/1

Pep Guardiola has built one of the most imposing dynasties in English football history over the past decade. Even the era he shared with Jurgen Klopp saw him win the league title more often than not. Things seem to have gotten away from the legendary coach this season, however, without veterans like Kevin de Bruyne to unpick a lock and a massive change in goal with Gianluigi Mamardashvili, his squad hasn’t looked like the well-oiled unit we used to witness on the field.

At every opportunity to close the gap to the league leaders in this campaign, the Cityzens have stumbled either by failing to put opponents to the sword or letting matches get away from them. WIth their proneness in transition being a fatal flaw the once dominant outfit from Manchester have looked as beatable and human as we have seen them in a very long time.

Manchester United – 300/1

It is too little, too late for the Red Devils who have been given a new lease on life under Michael Carrick. Sitting over 15 points behind the league leaders they aren’t technically out of the race but there’s no realistic chance that we see them make up that ground. With only 24 points left on offer for the season it would take a historic implosion from the teams ahead of them for United to sneak in and steal away the title.

Relegation Favourites

West Ham – 11/8

With odds makers no longer taking bets on Wolves and Burnley, dooming both both to relegation, the race here begins with the Irons. Having looked woeful throughout this campaign under Graham Potter, the appointment of miracle man Nuno Espirito Santo and the January revamp with Axel Disasi coming in has turned them from guaranteed relegation fodder to a side in with a chance of making it out alive.

Tottenham Hotspur – 9/4

After barely scraping by last term, nobody could have expected another poor campaign from Tottenham Hotspur. After starting well under Thomas Frank their skid down the table continued until relegation became, and remains, a huge threat. Things have remained poor under Igor Tudor with the Europa League holders now being closer to relegation than ever. With Champions League football occupying them in midwee, they have a tougher challenge than most at the lower end of the table.

Nottingham Forest – 9/4

12 months ago the Trees were in the top four of the league and looked like a miracle story in the footballing world. Now they sit in the bottom embers of the Premier League in one of the more predictable outcomes of this season. Despite his heroics, Esperito Santo was not backed properly over the summer with signings made to embrace more progressive football, this saw Ange Postecoglou come in and briefly try and overhaul the team’s tactics before his sacking saw Sean Dyche attempt to change the tactical identity for a third time in the space of six months. The world is crumbling for Forest and it is all down to the manic decision making of one man at the helm.

Featured Image Credit

IMAGO / Sportimage: London,

With the season coming down to the wire, all eyes are now on both ends of the Premier League table.
