Despite promising signs, Leicester yet again fell to defeat in last week’s game against QPR. Despite the away sides’ poor form, they found it relatively easy to take all three points from the King Power. In terms of this weekend, City face Watford. The Hornets are in decent form with three wins in their last six games. They are coming off the back of a 3-1 win in midweek over Wrexham, which certainly boosted their play-off aspirations.

Read More:Five Leicester City Academy Graduates Who Played for England

Watford vs Leicester Predicted Lineups & Latest Team News

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="1ffbae35d432d0d71911ca2a0b209fbb" image-id="prsigwYSMR0Z" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2700px; aspect-ratio: 2700/1800;" ></smartframe-embed>

Date: 21st March 2026
Venue: Vicarage Road
Kick-Off:15:00 GMT
Last meeting: Leicester 1-2 Watford (26th December 2025)
Referee: Joshua Smith
Current odds: Watford 1/1, Leicester 5/2

Watford Team News

Whilst many teams struggle with injuries, Watford is making use of their squad depth. This may be a reason for their good performance in midweek, as they swept aside Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham. Manager Ed Still touched upon this ahead of this weekend’s game. He said: “The squad is big and it’s going to keep on being really important for us.”

Read More: Best Chelsea Players to Wear the Number 14 Jersey Ever

In terms of absences, Othmane Maamma, Kwadwo Baah and Jeremy Ngakia are all suffering from muscle problems. In addition to this, Jeremy Petris and Stephen Mfuni are also out with their own issues. Despite this, Watford have also had some positives as Mamadou Doumbia and Mattie Pollock returned to the hallowed turf on Tuesday. Pollock’s return was certainly impactful, with his manager full of praise for the performance. “He [Pollock] was wonderful, really good,” Still explained.

Leicester Team News

Ahead of the fixture, Rowett also discussedhis side’s availability. Although players are returning, it’s proving not enough for City to get over the line. They lost to QPR last time out as their home form continues to prove costly. Following the game, Rowett was even critical of his side. He said: ” I need to start looking at players who I can trust throughout, not just once or twice.”

Read More: Best Arsenal Players to Wear the Number 33 Jersey Ever

As for injuries, many players are slowly returning. There are no fresh concerns, whilst Harry Souttar and Jannik Vestergaard are back in “certain situations”. The latter could be back after the international break, as could Asmir Begovic and Aaron Ramsey. These additions would certainly add more competition for places, though Rowett seems fairly set on the players he wants to use.

Younger talents such as Bade Aluko, Jeremy Monga and Louis Page aren’t the beneficiaries of this situation. Page has returned to the under-21s team after making 19 first-team appearances. Meanwhile, Aluko wasn’t in Saturday’s squad, and Monga has been an unused substitute in his last four games. This isn’t necessarily a surprise given the relegation fight City are embroiled in, though changes may be necessary if City want to see any change in results.

Watford Predicted Lineup

GK: Selvik

LB: Bola

LCB: Goglichidze

RCB: Pollock

RB: Abankwah

LW: Chakvetadze

CM: Ekwah

CM: Louza

LW: Chakvetadze

RW: Irankunda

ST: Kayembe

ST: Kjerrumgaard

Leicester Predicted Lineup

GK: Stolarczyk

LB: Thomas

LCB: Nelson

RCB: Okoli

RB: Pereira

DM: Skipp

DM: James

AM: De Cordova Reid

LW: Mavididi

ST: Daka

RW: Fatawu

Featured Image Credit

IMAGO / Pro Sports Images

Last Word on Football brings you the latest team news and predicted lineups ahead of the Watford vs Leicester EFL Championship clash on Saturday afternoon.
