Ahead of the fixture, Rowett discussed<\/a> the squad’s injury issues. One of the notable omissions from Saturday’s squad was Fran Vieites. He said: ” Fran twisted his knee [on Friday] so that was a blow for us with Asmir out, in such quick succession.” The goalkeeper crisis led to three academy keepers making the trip to Portman Road. 20-year-old Harry French made the first team bench for the first time, whilst Jake Donohue was the backup.<\/p>\n

In addition to this, he also touched on Jeremy Monga’s availability. “Jez has a little injury as well. We’ll have to make sure we look after him,” Rowett explained. The teenager started in his new manager’s first game in charge, but has since dropped out with no minutes off the bench.<\/p>\n

Similarly, another youngster, Louis Page, has seen his minutes reduced. The midfielder didn’t even make the bench at Ipswich, and was selected on Monday for the Under-21’s clash with Newcastle United.<\/p>\n

Long-term injuries include Harry Souttar, Aaron Ramsey and Victor Kristiansen. The latter started in Rowett’s first game at the helm, but an injury saw him make way early on. The Dane’s only featured six times this season, with an injury-riddled campaign plaguing his chances of starting regularly.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the visitors have their own injury issues. Ahead of their defeat at the weekend to Coventry City, manager Gerhard Struber acknowledged their defensive issues. He said<\/a>:”We have to deal with that, and we want to bring out the best from the players who are in the back line right now. The job is to deal with a challenge like that.”<\/p>\n

One defender who missed the game against the Sky Blues was Ross McCrorie. He came off early against Port Vale last week, as the League One side went 0nto defeat the Robins in added time. Despite the recent issue, McCororie could be back soon. Struber noted<\/a>: “We have, right now, a better picture for him. It’s not so [big] on the hamstring; it’s a really small one. Hopefully, and this looks not bad, he is available on Tuesday.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

These absences have certainly played a part in their recent struggles. Just four league wins have been picked up by the Robins, with three of these coming against opposition in the bottom six of the table.<\/p>\n
