Following another crushing defeat, Leicester City continue to plummet down the league table. With three goals in the first 32 minutes for the Blades, the game was pretty much over, with City staring down a second consecutive defeat. The Foxes currently sit 16th in the league, with Marti Cifuentes’ approval decreasing by the week. How Leicester City Have Lined Up Recently<\/h3>\n

In the clash against Sheffield United, Cifuentes made a few changes amid the dismal performance against Southampton. With Jakub Stolarczyk’s injury, Asmir Begovic continued his run of starts in between the sticks. After Bade Aluko was sent off against the Saints, Luke Thomas once again returned at left-back, having served his one-match suspension, which occurred due to an accumulation of yellow cards.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the centre-back partnership of Wout Faes and Jannik Vestergaard remained intact, though the Belgian came off at half-time due to injury. To finish off the backline, Ricardo Pereira was also back in the starting eleven at right back, with Hamza Choudhury dropping out.<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, in midfield, more changes came. Jordan James and Harry Winks were reunited in the double pivot, whilst Bobby Decordova Reid made just his third start of the campaign. Despite both being hooked at half time at St Mary’s, both Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi reprised their roles out wide. Therefore, leading the line was Patson Daka for the fourth consecutive game.<\/div>\n

Following back-to-back defeats, it’s no surprise that Cifuentes has come under increasing pressure recently. Under the Spaniard, the Foxes have won just six games, which is a poor tally considering his squad and the clubs around them. Furthermore, even outside of the results, they have yet to put together a brilliant 90-minute performance, where they are in complete control.<\/div>\n

As for the game against the Blades, they got off to the worst possible start, with former player Tom Cannon scoring within the first two minutes. By the fourth minute, former Coventry City player Callum O’Hare further showed his allegiance to the Sky Blues with a second goal. To make matters worse, Sydie Peck made it three just after the half-hour mark, to further cement his side’s dominance. Just like Southampton in midweek, Cifuentes’ side conceded three goals in the first half, thus leaving an almost impossible mountain to climb.<\/div>\n

Whilst this did get better in the second half, it was all too little too late. Mavididi and James both found goals, but the three-goal margin was still out of reach. The addition of Oliver Skipp at centre-back was certainly a surprising masterstroke as both he and Boubakary Soumare provided much more control. However, it is also important to remember that Chris Wilder’s side were cruising at this point, given the major deficit. Disappointment for Leicester, but the manager will be hoping that the positives from the second half will bode well for their trip to Pride Park.<\/div>\n

As confirmed by the Spaniard<\/a>, multiple players are back from injury. Both Stolarczyk and Ben Nelson are back in contention as they have recovered, whilst Harry Souttar is back in training. However, easing the Australian international back in will be important as he hasn’t played<\/a> a game in almost a year. Aside from this, Aaron Ramsey, Victor Kristiansen and Caleb Okoli are all still out.<\/div>\n
