The back five structure is designed to shore up a defence that has looked so vulnerable over the past two seasons. Edwards<\/a> said himself after the Villa game: “Carry on performing like that and points will come”<\/p>\n

Tactically, the plan is to use the back five to reduce the goal threat, while relying on midfield cohesion and quick transitions while in possession, sacrificing some attacking width for structure and discipline. This, however, has brought its own problems, as no goals were scored in November.<\/p>\n
