With the Foxes now one point adrift from the elusive play-off positions, could we start to expect more consistent performances? In addition to this, both Patson Daka and Stephy Mavididi found the net after severe goal droughts, which bodes well with the gruelling December schedule. Therefore, here is the Leicester predicted lineup as they look to continue their run of form with an away win on the coast against Southampton.

Leicester City Predicted Lineup vs Southampton

How Leicester City Have Lined Up Recently

In the clash against Stoke, Marti Cifuentes once again made minor tweaks following the international break. In goal, Asmir Begovic started against his former club and delivered a solid performance as Jakub Stolarczyk remains sidelined. With injuries to both Caleb Okoli and Ben Nelson, Wout Faes and Luke Thomas came back into the side. Meanwhile, veteran duo Jannik Vestergaard and Ricardo Pereira reprised their respective roles.

Read More: Former Leicester Player Praises Duo, Says One ‘Fits the Bill for Most Premier League Clubs’

With the international break, it’s no surprise that no changes came to the midfield trio after their success away at Carrow Road. Former Spurs duo Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp started, whilst talisman Jordan James continued in the number 10 role. Out wide, Abdul Fatawu and Mavididi were in fine form, with both of them providing goal involvements against the Potters. In attack, Patson Daka was given the nod over fellow centre-forward options Julian Carranza and Jordan Ayew.

Leicester City’s Recent Form And Tactics

With the Foxes often struggling this season, picking up all three points with a clinical performance was necessary. Both goals were netted in the first half, with Daka and Mavididi battling through the adversity of not scoring this season. The winger who recently decided to play internationally for Congo certainly impressed with his left-footed finish, catching the headlines. To finish from that angle is already spectacular, but on his weak foot makes it all the more impressive.

Likewise, Daka capped off a perfect first half with his goal, which was created by a terrific pass from Skipp. With players who seem to be lacking confidence, making the difference, competition for places should improve. This will become increasingly important with the busy month of December on the horizon. For instance, Jeremy Monga, Boubakary Soumaré and Ayew were all left on the bench having been impactful earlier in the campaign.

Read More: Leicester Owner Khun Top Eyes ‘Major Reshuffle’ Following Years of Decline

Underestimating this win against Stoke can’t happen, especially given their form this season. Mark Robins’ side still sit in third place in the league, despite the loss and have picked up points from some of the stronger sides in the division. They beat Birmingham City, took a point away from Middlesbrough and even demolished Bristol City by five goals to one. To grind out a good win at the King Power is incredibly positive and should allow Leicester to kick on.

Leicester City Injuries to Consider

As confirmed by the Spaniard, injuries will affect his squad for this weekend’s clash. With a suspension for Thomas and Periera’s consistent absences from midweek games, Cifuentes will have depleted options. Furthermore, Nelson, Victor Kristiansen and Okoli all remain out for the game, which could lead to a first start for academy starlet Olabade Aluko. As for long-term injuries, both Harry Souttar and Aaron Ramsey also remain sidelined, which further reduces the personnel.

Leicester Predicted Lineup vs Southampton

GK: Asmir Begovic

RB: Hamza Choudhury

RCB: Wout Faes

LCB: Jannik Vestergaard

LB: Olabade Aluko

DM: Jordan James

DM: Harry Winks

RW: Abdul Fatawu

AM: Bobby Decordova Reid

LW: Jordan Ayew

ST: Patson Daka

Featured image courtesy of IMAGO / Pro Sports Images

Consecutive wins against Norwich City and Stoke City have seen Leicester City climb up to 10th in the Championship.
